Deadly dull Liverpool derby ..... only to be expected given it was their first outing since the virus outbreak. Only really delaying the inevitable

crowning of the mighty reds!

We're multiplying!

Real Madrid takes over first place in Spain. That race to the finish line with Barcelona will be something to watch.

It is going to be some finale!!

Watching Serie A (Italy), Lecce down 1-3 to AC Milan, on ESPN. Thank God there's none of that annoying fake crowd noise Bundesliga & the Premier League throw at you-yet.

Edit: 1-4.

I decided to watch both of the League Two semifinals today. Northampton and Exeter will meet in the Wembley final...I know, I'm crazy. :gumby:

That was a crazy tie. All goals scored by the visiting sides. Also, there's talk about getting rid of the away goal rule in Europe. I agree with the idea.

It`s a silly rule alright. If both sides play at home, then there really isn`t much value in it, is there? Unless it suits your own team, of course - it`s the most satisfyingly schadenfreude-y type of win.

And regarding your beef about your beloved Robert not being voted player of the year - I`m pretty sure those things are rigged to ensure the first two (younger players, of whom much is rumoured) sign new contracts.

That would make me feel better, except the voting was done by the German TV station SKY, and I think they're pretty much independent.

Poland will begin the Nations League campaign in Holland on September 4th...I think. The stadium will allow for 1/3 capacity of fans and...they will be prohibited from chanting and singing during the match.

Funny story from Poland. A fan of one of the away teams travelled to the city where his club was playing, rented a crane, placed it near the stadium, and was able to watch his beloved squad live from a bird's eye view. :notworthy:

True Fan.

Another guy did it in one of the lower leagues, and this time he brought a friend with him. He phoned 23 crane companies, 21 of them laughed him off. Two decided to entertain his request. He picked the cheaper one.

that's a good pic

They're letting fans into the stadiums now, so the crane soap opera is over. :rose:

Liverpool 4-0 Crystal Palace

Finally, back to some form! Of course, Direct TV screwed me and didn't record the English-language version, so I got to watch to the match in Spanish. Whether gol or goal, it was a good time.

Was the commentator yelling "Goooooooooooooool" or just "Gooool?"

It was a very assured performance .... one of their better performances this season (crowd or no crowd). The league could be over tonight although I think Man City will be

too strong for Chelsea.

I can't decide if my hatred for Chelsea is stronger than for those arriviste Citizens . . . I think it is, yes. But I'd prefer a 0-0 draw, honestly.

As for the announcer, it was that Andres Something guy, so it was "Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool! Ah, [intake of breath] Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllllll!"

That was the only reason I was hoping Liverpool wouldn't hit a fifth.

You are referring to Andres Cantor, who does the soccer play-by-play in Spanish for a number of games, primarily for Telemundo. I would frequently switch back and forth between ABC's broadcast of the World Cup and Telemundo's simultaneous broadcast of Copa Mundial just to hear Andres. A lot of the other Spanish speaking broadcasters now imitate the goal call, but Andres Cantor is da man! Edited by pjbear05

Andres Cantor, yes, that's the breathy fellow. Sort of oddly appropriate last name, consider his ability to sustain.

For your listening enjoyment:

Chelsea beats Man City 2-1, giving Liverpool the Premier League Championship.

The 30 year wait is over ... so glad for my son who so wanted to see this day.
