Mick, what do you think of Bad Attitude from Meat Loaf? I've always liked it a lot. I love the very mid 80s sound of it. I like that a couple Steinman songs showed up on it too.

I love Bad Attitude. your right it's his most 80's record. there's a great irreverent fun vibe too it. it 's my fav of the post dead Ringer 80's albums.

and Surf's up is one of my fav Steinman songs. and as usual Meat sells it like it's the most important song he'll ever sing, lol

I'm pretty meh on everything from Bat 3 onward. Couldn't Have Said It Better was the last whole album I enjoyed from him. I felt Bat 3 was an awful attempt at trying to re-re-capture the special magic of the other two that I don't feel was possible for him at that point. There's some good songs but the album is overall not worthy of the Bat Out Of Hell name. Nothing else after that did it for me.

I listened to bat 3 last night and the best thing about that album are the Steinman songs for me.

it should have been a Meat/Steinman album through and through.

alas they weren't all the best terms than.

also side note. it sucks that people age. because meat loaf to me in my head will always be the long haired 93/94 Meat.

not only did he sound his best. that was his best LOOK, Imo.

he was really fit than too.....for meat i mean, lol

A funny note, long hair, overweight and clean shaven was also my look in 93/94. I kind of looked like I could have been Meat's son. The kids at school used to joke about it with me that the reason I was such a huge fan was because I really was his kid lol.

The similar looks were coincidental though. I had already been growing my hair out before Bat 2 hit.

Hey, I just picked up Biffy Clyro's Ellipses on vinyl on account of it being only 6 bucks. What are you guys' thoughts on this one?

Also I got Toto The Seventh One recently and I love it.

The seventh One has risen to be my 2nd fav Toto album. Fantastic pop album. Anna is one the best ballads they ever wrote.

When Anna first came on I was thinking "okay, here's the cheesy 80s ballad, whatever." By the time it ended..."woah! That was amazing!"

the thing about the album at first listen it's cheesy late 80's sound kinda is off putting. but when you examine the songwriting. it's god tier pop song writing.

You know, that's kind of been my experience with Toto as a whole actually. On first hearing it yeah it sounds like 70s 80s cheesy pop rock AOR stuff, I know they're great musicians, blah blah blah. After giving it my full attention: where has this been all my life???!

that makes really happy most just hear the radio hits and never pick up an album. theres a lot of great stuff to be found. and watching them actually play in concert you really see what monster musicians they are.

That would be a real treat to see if concerts ever come back.

I enjoy The Seventh One.

It's probably near the bottom of my top ten though.

Top 5 Toto records (in case you were wondering, lol)

1. Fahrenheit

2. The Seventh one

3. Toto

4. Tambu

5. Turn Back

Mick

No IV? Interesting. I've only heard four of them (actually I think five, but I forget what the fifth one was and most of what I thought about it), but of those four IV and The Seventh One are a league ahead of the other two.

i've never been huge on IV. it's good but not great. Fahreheit is much better.

just my opinion.

I may get funny looks for this, but Fahrenheit might be my favourite albums of the 1980s.

what's funny to me is Mindfelids is number 2, lol

Mick

I love it. High Price Of Hate aside, throw in Spanish Steps Of Rome and I love everything about it, especially the remaster!

Listening to Ellipsis now and I've just finished Small Wishes...perhaps predictably for me I loved that song, lol. So far I'm liking this probably more than Puzzles!
