ILSnwdog
I was in the Bay Area (San Fran) this weekend and had a couple pints of Anchor Steam. I had forgotten how good it was.I love Anchor Steam. Anchor Portor is pretty damn good too. Fritz Maytag makes some good beer.
EagleMoon
I went to a beer tasting party last week. We had over a dozen beers to sample, and this won:Drank a mess of it in Ireland. The W is silent, by the way. I love Smithwicks. I first had it at the Ohio Renaissance Festival a few years ago and it has been one of my favorite beers since.
alphseeker
Beer Week here in San Diego. All 150 plus breweries in our county put on a show like no other. Every night breweries take over most of the bars and tap rooms in the city to show off their new creations. Last night we were at the IB pub House. Belching Beaver had 15 of their best including this one below. Belching Beaver Bourbon Barrel Aged Damned - Double IPA 12% Simply amazing, it is made with 80 % mosaic hops.. No alcohol taste at all one of these hit me in less than 10 minutes. Right behind it was a Passion Fruit / Watermelon IPA on cask. A 7.3 that drank like a Saison 4.5 smooth as fruit juice. Below is the bottle the Pub is going to open on their one year anniversary and share with us in December. They have two of them. Nothing like St. Bernardus ABT. 12 http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/bauhaus92/IMG_8439_zps6tmgzaya.jpghttp://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/bauhaus92/image1_zpsvnx2nqth.jpg Edited November 12, 2016 by alphseeker

pjbear05
My man from Kalamazoo, Larry Bell, never ceases to amaze. Went into TW, hoping the fall/winter stock was in, and they were stacked. Christmas Ale, Third Coast (old) Ale, Brown, Two Hearted, Oberon, Porter, Amber, Oatsmobile, 3 stouts, and a newbie, Quinnlan Falls Special Lager, which has a nice hoppy kick to start, but finishes clean. Bought that, the Amber, and my Winter favorite, Double Cream Stout. Cheers, and Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

JohnnyBlaze
Asahi Super DryOrion What do you think of Suntory Premium Malt, Sapporo, and Kirin beers? IMHO, all 3 are far superior to Asahi and Orion, though those two aren't bad.

Try Suntory Premium Malts if you haven't already. That's my #1. http://japancentre-images.freetls.fastly.net/images/pics/9681/large/IMG_0031.jpg?1469567841 Edited June 13, 2017 by JohnnyBlaze
blackhawkrush
Basically anything that comes out of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, but it has to have some serious alcohol volume, otherwise it's no more than soda pop to me.

When it was imported to the U.S., it had a great taste. As soon as it got taken over by a brewery in St. Louis, Missouri, it naturally turned into piss. Not the fault of the brewer but at times in the 80s i would encounter a batch past their expiration date. I liked becks and especially becks dark. I was actually thinking about german wheat beers and I think Spaten which kicked my ass once. German beer wasnt the only offender in the pre micro brew days to be like that. I cant the remember the last saint pauli or grolsch i drank. used to love them both

That sucks they ran a great beer into the shit zone. like i said, back in the day becks dark was top shelf beer. i have read that the heinken that they sell here in the states is a far cry from the original. You must understand this company's move messed up my life. :boohoo:
