Stewart Copeland remembers Neil...

I should be speaking in past tense.

Stewart, you go right ahead and keep it in the present tense! Neil is eternal; he has no beginning and no end. :notworthy:

Found his description of Neil's failing health towards the end sad but of course not surprising either.

Yes a difficult read, but good to know that in spite of his illness he maintained his philosophy of filling each day to the max.

Copeland gives a good interview.

My third favorite drummer on the Earth.

I dragged my wife and little girls to the "Everybody Stares" movie with a Stewart Copeland Q & A after the flick. Amazing dude. Klerk Kant is a rare gem on Japanese cd.

My only concern would be his humility because it dampens his artillery.

Wonderful interview, he was funny and his remembrances of Neil were poignant and spot on. I loved the line "Neil, he gets behind the drums and commands the chariot for the duration." Yes :notworthy:

The Police were one of my favorites and I thought it was cool that Stewart and Neil became friends. Still hard to believe Neil is gone :sigh:

Wait!!! 78!!! What???? Please explain!!!!!

My only professional recording is a four track cd ep I did with my 23 nephew at the time.

I brought in my recording and touring drum kit to record.

I was excited to use my Stewart Copeland snare on the recording. It sounds like a f***ing gun shot on the record. I loved the sound!!!

Don't tell me he dampens his snare sound. Then I'm fooled.

I key tuned that snare to the highest level possible. It popped like a wild cherry on a hot summer night!!!!

Dude, I grip it and rip it like Neil, but I would never wear gloves like Stewart. Ugh!!!

I just love Stewart's use of high hat to splashes and crashes. I'm an octoban nut as well.

I actually have a Stewart Copeland blue bell ride on my main kit at the house. I LOVE IT!!!

Oh well.

Dampen? WTF?????

I am a drummer of 38 years. I've never understood the word "dampen" and how it applies to drumming.

The louder the better in my book.

Stewart Copeland and Neil are both in my top 5 drummers of all time. Arguably the two most influential drummers of the 20th century

Heck yes Brother Syrinx!

1. Neil Peart

2. Simon Phillips

3. Stewart Copeland

4. Dave Weckl

5. Tim Alexander/Gavin Harrison

You could argue that but you’d have to insert ‘of their type’ to be anywhere close to winning that argument.

If John didn't play the drums on "In Through The Outdoor" that album would be better used for toilet paper in an outhouse! LOL!!!! John saves that pop record of poop!!!!

Let's agree to disagree here...I love In Through the Out Door, man!!! The only possible weak link on the album for me is Hot Dog. Other than that, it's great. I still think one of those modern prog metal bands like Haken, Sons of Apollo or even Dream Theater could do an amazing cover of Carouselambra.

Yeah all good buddy. There are a few solid tunes on the record. Great record sleeve packaging. Very cool. But mostly that album is a commercial conundrum.
