Damn it I'm a fan of Brian Dennehy! First Blood? He totally stole the film with his great performance as the hardass Sheriff. And there's many, many other roles like in Best Seller, Silverado, F/X, Presumed Innocent, Foul Play, Semi-Tough, Gorky Park, Cocoon, F.I.S.T. and many more.

RIP Brian.

yeah he played the dick sheriff to perfection in rambo. imo the best stallone film.

may he RIP

Yeah he was dead on, every line delivered perfectly.

One of my favorite Dennehy deliveries in First Blood was "People start f***in' around with the law and all hell breaks loose."

And then there was that whole scene in the car when he and Rambo first meet.

Dennehy was also good in the tv movie "The Jericho Mile." That was the first time I saw him. I think that was a couple of years before I saw First Blood at the cinema.

There's a Dennehy line near the end that always makes me burst out laughing it's so good. It's not much of a line really it's just the timing of it is perfect in the scene. It's right at the end of this bit:

What part? When he drops his head to the floor when he's already lying there?

It's just "COME ON YOU CRAZY SON OF A BITCH!"

 I see.

Love this whole exchange:

Yeah. Dennehy does such a good job you could quote almost any line.

How about that line he barks to Caruso after Gault dies falling out of the copter? Something like, "We were friends when your mother was still wiping your nose! But he's dead now. He's dead because of that psycho out there!"

Did he not say wiping your ass??

I don't think so but he should've! Will have to check

It is nose, not ass. Great scene roughing up a very young David Caruso:

My quote was almost spot on too :hail:

Don't know anything about what he's done recently. The last time I saw him was probably on NYPD Blue back in the 90s. Wasn't that the show? Or I think he was in some Russell Crowe movie from 2000. Forgot the name of that as well.

What about Dennehy in Jericho Mile? That was a quality tv movie with Brian doing his villainous thing

He's in all those crap CSI shows, he was in NYPD Blue for a while too I think. I saw him in a crap film though and he was pretty bad.

I've not seen Jericho Mile, is it a thriller?

Crime drama. Stars Peter Strauss. The dude who played TC in Magnum P.I. has a sizable role. Some other familiar faces in it too.

I remember him from Rich Man, Poor Man back in 1976 with Nick Nolte and William Smith.

Strauss plays a man convicted of murder for killing his abusive father (who was raping his sister). He starts running around the prison yard as a means of coping, which leads to the prison hosting athletic track meets. Dennehy plays Dr. D, the leader of the white gang in the prison.

You should watch the whole movie when you get the chance.

I'm sorry, to see, and hear of Brian's passing. He was a very good actor. He is, and will be missed. My condolences, to his family, and friends. R.I.P., Brian. Edited by Derek19
