‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Release Postponed

My reason for posting this is because I'm curious to see what the sequel will be like 30+ years later.

Secondly I referenced TRF forum member Maverick in the post for amusement.

Also, the Saturday Night Live skit 'Iceman: The Later Years' (episode air date December 9 2000) is hilarious as well.

Well, it’s a cheesy, shit flick that I do admit to seeing more than a couple of times and enjoying. There are plenty of guilty pleasures kicking about over the decades. Rocky 4 is another that immediately comes to mind.

I’ll add: I can’t think of any cheesy films that came out over the last 20 years that I DO like. I’m not sure why that is.

You know me Pat. I have thousands of horror films.

I'm all 70's 80's 90's.

Dude. I can kind of keep up with you. I'm a David Cronenberg freak. He's in Night Breed dude.

I have everything by David.

The Car? LOVE IT!

Original Black Christmas is great.

I love Wes Craven

Clive Barker

But duh

John Carpenter is my RUSH in film. You know this Pat. I've met John three times. Two of my questions were always based on Rush. Yes, he likes them. lol

I love Stanley Kubrick dude. I know he isn't always horror but give me "A Clockwork Orange" and "The Shining." King is a fuckking idiot for hating that vision of the film. JMO

"Dr. Sleep" was good. You like?

What thread is this? lol

What do you think about John Carpenter Pat? I know he's made some stinkers but he is a Legend. My Neil Peart of Film and Soundtracks. I am serious Pat.

Nightbreed is my favourite horror movie and the Arrorw release last year is 10/10 in terms of quality and value.

If I take out all the Sixties films from your list I would probably say I own 90 percent of your list.

Carpenter's remake of "The Thing" could be labeled SCI-FI. It's a horror film to me. A masterpiece.

Also the 1978 remake of "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" with Donald Sutherland and a young Jeff Goldblum is off the charts epic. JMO

It's the end of the world Pat and I feel fine.........

Run

Earl

Mystically......

Whoops. I thought some of those Dracula movies from the late Sixties.

I've put Madhouse twice! It's a MADHOUSE!

Hahahaha! The world is a MADHOUSE!!!

Do you like slasher flicks like "Terror Train?" "Prom Night?" "Sleepaway Camp?" "Friday The 13th?" "My Bloody Valentine?" On and on. Carpenter changed the world.

Now our entire world is changed forever. FUCKK!!!

Only up to a point. Halloween is probably the best series of slasher flicks. Donald Pleasence makes a big difference too. Pleasence was in a lot of great films, quite a few horror films with Cushing and Lee too.

Donald is my favorite actor Pat. Halloween 40 was dare I say KILLER. LOL They are doing a trilogy. This years it's "HALLOWEEN KILLS" then next year it's "HALLOWEEN ENDS" So stoked.

"Halloween" is my number one film on the Earth Pat.

I have the Nightbreed Box Set from Arrow. It's a beautiful box! Great movie.

I was always a big fan of the movie. I watched the theatrical cut as a child once late at night on TV, I'd always sneak downstairs for a good horror film.

This one is one of the rare movies to leave me terrified for WEEKS. The Exorcist, The Omen, The Shining...I watched all these films as a kid and they were great fun. Nightbreed hit a nerve.

Anyway, years go by, I think to myself "maybe it was a fever dream" as I could not remember the title and no one knew the film based on description. I start to get into Candyman (top ten for me) and Hellraiser (overrated but still good) and that naturally lead me to Clive Barker and his works. So I found a copy of Cabal, and read it. The story blew my mind: it was like the movie I keep trying to find!

Typed away, Cabal was adapted and turned into a big budget horror directed by the author: Nightbreed.

Years go by, I had rewatched the theatrical cut on illegal platforms as it was so hard to find, I found it less scary but still so, so good. The Arrow release comes out, not long after a similarly lavish release for Carrie (top ten) and An American Werewolf In London (haha...top ten) and the directors cut blew me away!

Not saying it's the greatest horror movie ever made (for pure horror, it doesn't get much better than Black Christmas, Halloween or Evil Dead), but it's my personal favourite. I love the fantasy elements as well as the great cast, Cronenberg is one of my all time favourite horror villains.

You blow my flicking mind. I just bought "Embryo" on blu. Your list is more old school.

I read the book before the film came out, must have been around 1989. The book is called Cabal.

Earl, John Carpenter has a JohnnyBlaze 9-2 record!

Kubrick’s 10-0!

Hey JB! LOVE THOSE RANKINGS!!!!!

Let me guess. You don't like "Ghosts Of Mars" and "Invisible Man."

Stan is the MAN.

I didn’t see those. The losses were Escape from LA ((I know you like it but I thought everything about it was rubbish)) and Vampires ((not the worst movie by any means but I can’t give it a ‘win’))

I just had celery so that's ok. No celery sticks though this week as Tesco didn't have any. I had to have the celery hearts which are lower quality and you have to cut off them into sticks yourself.

Have you seen him in all his films? He's great in The Great Escape, You Only Live Twice, Fantastic Voyage, Will Penny, From Beyond the Grave, The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Black Windmill and lots of others.

The Hammer Dracula ones started in 1958 with the first one and then 1960 with The Brides of Dracula Christopher Lee isn't in that just Peter Cushing, it's great though. Then the next sequel was in 1966 Dracula Prince of Darkness and then 1968 Dracula Has Risen From the Grave. And then there were another 5 in the series in the 70's.
