By the way this just occured to me. Palpatine is a dumb idiot.

1. he couldn't turn off his lightning when mace made it bounce into him......deformed.

2. he couldn't turn of his lighting with Rey AGAIN.........dead.

just stop shooting it mister all powerful. lol

Mick

he really is a boob when you think on it, lol

the other dumb thing he did was tell Rey his plan that he needed her to strike him down. He should have just taunted her and she would have light sabered the shit out of him.

i was with with my friend. i love the guy he's one of those Star wars can do no wrong guys. i leaned over and said "um.......if his life force was gonna go into Rey at his death. why tell her? let her just kill you!!"

that even made my friend think, lol

Mick

I'm still not sure I believe him about that. I feel like if Palpatine is powerful enough to come back from the grave, he must be powerful enough to have realized and sensed a few things through the force: 1. Kylo/Ben was very near and coming to help Rey, 2. Rey was never going to strike him down and embrace the dark side, just as Luke wouldn't, 3. (I think he already knew this) Kylo and Rey's bond was just the source of power he needed to come fully back to life, and 4. he could tell Rey a little lie to make her question wether she wanted to kill Palpatine in order to stall long enough for Kylo to arrive. This movie reminded me that believing anything Palpatine says is usually what gets people in trouble in these movies. He is eternally a manipulator, which is how he usually wins. I agree with you about the lightning though, lol. The dude is always overestimating his abilities with the force lightning. That lightning was what distracted him from realizing Vader was going to throw him off a ledge in 6 too!

So Palp was trying to goad Luke in part 6 then Rey in part 9 into striking him down just for kicks?! That doesn’t make sense to me. A lot of stuff doesn’t make sense if i think more about it.

I still have to give part 9 a second viewing.

As for Luke in 6, I think Palpatine knew (or thought) Luke would have to kill Vader first, and if he failed to kill Vader, Vader would kill him. If Luke had succeeded, then Palpatine would use Luke's emotional state against him to turn him to the dark side. If Luke wouldn't turn after that, I think Palpatine would've killed him on the spot. I don't think it's at all "just for kicks." I think Palpatine tells people things to pit them against each other because he knows he cannot be defeated by just one person, he's too powerful.

I interpreted that Sith ritual as needing a willing participant. Palpatine said specifically that he wanted Rey to agree to strike him down with her lightsabre as part of the ritual. Only then could he pass his consciousness/spirit into her.

Palpatine's son wanted no part of him or the Dark Side. That's why he wanted Rey alive and not dead. He needed a blood relative to continue his spiritual existence.

Mace Windu came close. But the BMF got distracted and then went for his joyride out the window.

I saw this EPIC FILM for a second time JB and I loved it even more!!!! A 10!!!!! One of the greatest movies ever! Oh and there's more!! I am sure you all have heard about J.J. fighting with Disney over the cutting room floor??? J.J. had the film well over three hours. Disney cut many scenes. There are so many loose ends but some are so obvious too. Hayden flew to do a few scenes and was cut out. Lando's daughter? Finn has the Force? Fukk Disney. I knew they were going to interfere too much with the creative side of the Saga. As I fuckking HATE Star Trek, it's amazing what J.J. has done.

Do you know that J.J. was going to make Episode 9 into two parts? He wanted to do over four hours of filming and Disney said.... hell no!

Fukk Disney.

Walt is a Great American and I will forever love him for his genius. But the empty suits now in 2020 can kiss my jedi ass!!!

"May The Farce Be With You" Mickey Mouse!

I hope they release the uncut version into the theaters this summer.

Of course I'm hoping for a "Rise Of Skywalker" Best Buy Steelbook with the extended cut on 4K and Blu...............

Finn said a few times that he wanted to tell Rey something. But he never did. Or did I miss that somehow?

That did seem to fall by the wayside. According to this, which cites Abrams, it was that he was force-sensitive. That makes sense.

Why would he have to tell her? She would already know.

I think he wanted to tell her he loved her after he thought they were going to die...

I’m glad they didn’t end with any love combo of Rey & Finn or Rey & Poe. It would’ve felt crammed in there at the last second. The post-victory image of the three of them together (as friends who love/care for each other) was enough for me.

On a side, related note: I’m really glad they didn’t continue on with the pointless Finn & Rose relation.

That would have really screwed up the “Three Amigos” relationship between Rey, Finn and Poe. Glad it didn’t happen.

started watching for a 2nd time and the weaknesses in the script become more apparent.

That's what I figured. With the initial visual wow factor gone, more attention goes to the story, and that's not good.

I love both you guys, but I don't agree at a all!!

It is what it is.

I loved this movie even more after a second time.

Not sure I need a third time until blu.

I saw it three times, but the third time some friends wanted to go see it and wanted a third person in their group so I offered to join them.

Some head-scratching dialogue here and there, but overall, it's still really good, IMO.

Everything involving Rey and Ben was great to me. The supporting cast was not as good. The dialogue and relationships were so-so.

How do they have 1000 Star Destroyers buried in the planet? Who built them? Did they bring the entire Corelleian Shipbuilding Indistry to the Unknown Regions?

What's it like serving on a buried Star Destroyer? How long did that go on for? Why bury them?

We've seen Star Destroyers leave atmosphere before. Why couldn't they this time out? Good thing they were trapped....otherwise that cavalry attack on the hull wouldn't have worked out.

The Sith Eternal is made up of some very influential people in the galaxy, including people who served on the boards of Sienar-Jaemus and Kuat-Entralla shipyards. These titans of galactic industry were able to smuggle the parts needed for the fleet out of those facilities and onto Exegol, providing the raw material necessary to build the fleet's might.

So, Johnny Cash was a Sith? That explains all the black.

Still pleased with 9, and with the sequel trilogy as a whole. Very different from the prequels, and I think in many ways better, but I still won't write off what the prequels did for really opening up the galaxy and adding a lot of intrigue to the history.

But of course nothing beats 4 for me, and nothing ever will.
