My Racing Heart Will Never Be Closed When It Comes To "Open Secrets."

I was racing home today on the I-5 from LA.

Been a long time since I put on a RUSH record, but when I speed home from a trip I love listening to RUSH in my Blue Barchetta. Actually I have a blue Audi A5. So fun.

Anyway, I cranked out "Hemispheres" first. Nothing like air drumming at 90 mph. Fun.

Then I went for some "Fly By Night."

Followed by "Hold Your Fire."

Yes, I know. Glad I am weird and not normal like all of you perfect people.

"Hold Your Fire" is one of the funnest albums to play to on my drums regardless of no electronics. I have enough buzzers and bells to cover it. Trust me.

I just had to give "Open Secrets" some love tonight.

I might have done this thread already but I couldn't find it.

My God. When Geddy says "let it go" at about 5 minutes 8 seconds that drumming part just makes me explode into a zillion atom bombs.

I love playing the hi-hat and ride cymbal at the same time at that sacred part.

Some humans need yoga.

Some need a gym.

Some need to watch porn and come.

Just give me Rush music and my drums.

R rated poem

Offend you again? LOL

RUSH IS THE GREATEST BAND EVER MADE IN THE GALAXY!

There are probably millions of Earths out there in the beautiful Universe.

Cool.

I'm a lucky human to have been born on this planet.

I was able to love RUSH and see them 60 times. I met them too.

I'm good.

No self pity here Tony R.

I am awesome.

Music is my drug of choice.

Along with an ice cold beer.

Signed,

"Territories"

Get it Rush Fruits?

LOL

Just an ongoing joke of nothingness..........

Hope you newbies on here don't get me.

Cheers

You're probably trolling, but admitting to air drumming whilst driving at 90mph doesn't put you in a very good light.........

Don't judge me.

I'm alive and I'm awesome.

Put me in the "Available Light."

Trolling?

Wow! You are a real wonderful man.

"Open Secrets" is one of my all time favorite songs to play the drums too.

Can you even play an instrument?

Please.

Leave That Thing Alone.

Leave me the fuckk alone.

Thought you were cool Fridge.

Calling me a troll and judging me for air drumming at a high speed? Look in the mirror and worry about your own fuckingg life. LOL!!!

EAT IT

Signed,

Humble Pie

And I thought that you were a bit more intelligent than that Earl.....fill yer boots with the air drumming etc, but if you are doing that at 90mph then you are putting yourself and other road users at terrible risk.....I've attended plenty of road traffic incidents in my career and tried to save the lives of people in various stages of dismemberment all due to the fact that some dickhead was distracted from driving at high speed.

It's hard to maintain a sense of humour when you remember growing men crying for their mother as they bleed out and you can't stop it.

That's why I'm judging you Earl, it's all about the lives you could snuff out or destroy (including yours)

That's why I think you're trolling because you don't strike me as that dumb.

Ok ok.....

I am sorry. I just sent you a pm. I was in shock.

I must rephrase that part about air drumming at 90 mph

I am a very responsible driver.

It's not like I'm just doing "La Villa" all the way through.

Just bits and pieces.

There are always a ton of big rigs that love to go into the left lane to pass slower trucks.

It drives me crazy.

I am always alert and perhaps too aggressive.

I've been driving the 5 and the 101 to and from LA and San Diego for decades.

Whether alone or when with "precious cargo" to quote Neil.

My ex wife and my little girls were always in my hands.

Always safe and cautious.

Aggressive? Yes.

Always defensive and offensive. Yes.

I didn't mean to convey that I am a reckless crazy driver on the roads.

I love the irony Fridge.

When I got home today I got a letter from the DMV telling me...

"Congratulations....... you have a perfect driving record. You can just answer a few questions and mail them back in for your license renewal in 2020."

Sorry for the miscommunication.

I'm learning that texting and typing on a forum really isn't that smart at all. You miss the true emotion in voice tone and truth.

I will man up and apologize.

You are a good man.

I've always liked you.

Oh and yes. I do like drinking beer, but I am intelligent.

I just saw TOOL two nights in a row.

Geometric Math Prog Rock. LOL

I'm kind of being funny there.

Life is too short to be too smart.

I'm having fun Fridge.

Cheers!

I'm sorry for your pain Fridge.

I didn't mean to unearth that. I didn't know.

Again, you are a good man.

I can be serious too despite always trying to be a clown.

I actually feel a closer bond to you thanks to tonight's banter.

I seem to jump the gun to constant criticism about myself on here. Neil talks about this all the time right? "Tough times demand tough talk" "Pointed daggers" "Cold Fire." I get it.

Thank you for caring.

I was wrong again.

Don't worry mate

It's been dealt with by PM and that's the end of it as far as I am concerned....possibly I overreacted because it touched a nerve.

Keep making outrageous posts, the forums a brighter place because of them.

Hey Earl, I thought I'd drop by to highjack your thread. But it's a highjack worth having!

Ever hear of the band Follow For Now? They're from the early 90s and released only one album. They're that bridge between Living Colour and Fishbone so I'm going to assume you'd like them or already you know them and like them. Here's the first track:

Not sure why they didn't get a long term record deal because they were quality. I've been playing the hell out of their album this week.

I've still liked Rush's Hold Your Fire c.d., and album a lot. There may've been too many people including Rush fans, who have been, and are too critical of that studio c.d., and album of theirs. Edited by Derek19

Hold Your Fire is the last Rush album in which I like every song. Yes, that includes Tai Shan and High Water.

Is this a lost Peart lyric?

Some humans need yoga.

Some need a gym.

Some need to watch porn and come.

Just give me Rush music and my drums

the unedited, lost section of Half the World

No, then the lyrics would be infinitely better.

Can you even play an instrument?

He can indeed!

Come to think of it - didn’t he post some cool songs in the music section that he composed (on guitar) a while back?

Yup!

I love Open Secrets! One of the best songs on that album, probably would be the top if not for TSS and F10. Talk about a killer 123 punch!

High Water still bores me though.

On thread topic....

I think that this is one of these songs where Neil absolutely nails it lyrically......for anyone in a long term relationship it strikes close to the bone and is slightly uncomfortable reading

"Closed for my protection, open to your scorn

"Between these two directions, my heart is sometimes torn"

Ouch!

Fridge!

"I Love You Man!"

All good!

I've been away off the forum. Thank you all for your support over the last five years but I think I finally found someone special.

She's amazing Fridge!

I know you can play the guitar. I'm sorry for always jumping the gun and being so defensive for no reason.

You are my friend forever.

I still wish that we could do a huge RUSH FORUM PARTY. Even if it's in Toronto or New York, I Earl would go in a heartbeat.

I might have to wear armor to the part but I would go. LOL!!!!

Your last sentence really hit home for me Fridge.

I see the wonderful Lorraine highlighted the sentence so you get it.

I am flattered and honored.

I will always try to make this forum a brighter place despite my CAPS ON stigma or my overuse of the mundane word FUKK. LOL!!!

ROCK ON FRIDGE!

I have told many "Open Secrets" on here about my personal life. Well? So? I have always felt comfortable on this Forum for over 13 years.

The proof is in the pudding baby. It's all here in black and white.

CHEERS!!!

Earl

Hahahaha!!!

Young man, you are killing me.

Many rip "Tai Shan" and "High Water."

As a drummer these tracks are not boring.

My brain cannot compute.

I am an oddball. I admit it.

Here are my top three RUSH albums I love playing to:

1. "Hemispheres" The almighty perfect record. No album on the planet can touch it.

2. "Grace Under Pressure" My God, playing to "Red Lenses" is so fun, but ending with "Between The Wheels" on the drum kit always puts a tear in my eye during the guitar solo. It's just EPIC. Safe drugs exist. DON'T VAPE!!

3. "Hold Your Fire" I love playing every song on the album. Even "Second Nature." I don't have electronics but I have octobans, woodblocks, cowbells and other fun things to hit to incorporate the electronic drumming that Neil does. "Force Ten" is actually not that fun to play, but give everything else. "Hold Your Fire" is the last great album by RUSH. I woke up from a dream the other night. I realized even though many of the Atlantic Records Rush albums are solid, once RUSH left Mercury, it was all downhill from there. LOL!

So says me right? Just a Rabid Randy Rush Robot who loves every album up to "Counterparts"

But man, I'm on a "MISSION" forum folks.

This Rush Fanboi loudmouth fruit nerd turd TOOL Fool jerk might have stumbled across love again in his little, tiny opinionated brittle life. LOL!

RUSH ON!!

Nerds who love RUSH can find love again regardless of the outcome.......................

May The Force Ten Be With You! LOL!!!!!!

I love making myself laugh with stupid posts filled with childish humor.

You haters of me should try it.

It's good for you.
