Marvel Films Announces Phase 4

I would love to see a movie made for The Invaders. That was definitely one of my favorite comics when I was a kid.

I’ve been talking to treeduck about an Invaders movie for years. Given the events of Endgame, it can still happen. That is,

Cap time traveled to the past and lived his life with Peggy. In that now alternate timeline, who’s to say he didn’t lead an Invaders team? Evans is still young and he NEVER said he’s done with the Cap role.

If I had my way, I’d trim the team down to Cap, Bucky, the android Human Torch, Namor, and Union Jack (Easter egg: Falsworth was actually in Cap First Avenger).

The villain: Red Skull and/or Zemo (the dad of the Zemo from Age of Ultron).

Evans is still involved with the MCU actually: voice work with the upcoming What If project + he wants some directing duties. Cap is only an old man in 2023 MCU so as long as the Invaders is properly kept in the past, it could definitely work with a young Cap still played by a 30-something age Evans.

Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman will now be spinning webs only for Sony, it's been reported. Sony and Disney have apparently ended their agreement to share the iconic superhero.

Fighting over that Big Money....

I’m guessing Into the Spiderverse helped that situation. Sony thinks it can do just fine without Disney.

I hope they renegotiate.

A good team of script writers is all they need. Just write a good story.

Tom Holland can carry the film a long way, but he’s not all-powerful.

I don’t like how Disney believes they can do what they want regarding Sony. FFS, there are ignorant people who want Disney to buy Sony just for selfish MCU reasons to get Spider Man. Not everything should be under one umbrella. Millennials brainwashed by Disney need to stop whining regarding this.

However, I’m not fond of Sony either because Tom Rothman runs that studio and he turned Fox into a studio notorious for valuing money over quality and ruining the creative control of directors like Ridley Scott regarding Kingdom Of Heaven. And look who owns them now...

You got that right.

The more I read up on the legal and financial history of Marvel Films, the happier I am to not be a part of it! The lawsuits, the restructurings, the bankruptcies, the constant fighting over "rights" to certain characters, the buyouts....EGADS!! :outtahere:

Imho, the Raimi/Maguire Spidey flicks are 2-1.

The Garfield ones are 0-2. And the Holland ones are 1-1.

I agree that the script writers are the most important but I wouldn’t go so far to say it’s “all they need”. I wouldn’t be heartbroken though if Holland were replaced. I’ll take a good script and a completely no name actor as Spidey any day over the bad dialogue and characters we’ve gotten from some of these Spidey movies.

Replacing Tom Holland wouldn't be a disaster, although he has gained a pretty big fan base. He's still replaceable. He's the 3rd Peter Parker, so a 4th won't shock anyone!

Keeping Spidey solely under Sony would obviously mean no more crossovers into MCU movies like Avengers, etc. That also would mean they’d only be able use characters in the Spidey world/ownership which equates to almost no other superheroes + only the Spidey stable of villains like Green Goblin, Doc Ock, the Lizard, etc. Spidey in Cap Civil War and Infinity War was good stuff. That’d never be able to happen again if Sony doesn’t alllow the MCU access to him. It’s not the end of the world of course but Spidey belongs with the rest of the Marvel guys.

Another thing is that the last good Spidey film that wasn’t created by the MCU was way back in 2004. Sony would have to dig deep to make a good Spidey movie again. Those Garfield ones were garbage. And Spidey 3 was goofy as hell and rushed.

Phase 4? When are they going to announce Phase Out?

These won’t stop. Many of them are making a billion+ dollars or very close to it. And many of the recent ones haven’t even been very good imho. Combined, Spidey Far From Home, Avengers Endgame, and Captain Marvel made 5 billion bones. No way are they going to phase out. It’s funny because for the last ten years or so, plenty of people have been saying (here too) that “there are too many superhero movies” and “audiences will grow bored”. Then, of course, there’s the real money they make with the toys and other merchandise.

In perspective, it’s been almost exactly 21 years since Blade was released, 19 years since X-Men part 1, and 17 years since Spider-Man 1. That’s a very long time ago yet they’re making more money than ever.

Maguire was the best Spiderman, imo. I never thought they could find an actor more unlikable than Andrew Garfield to play the role but boy did I underestimated Hollywood again.

Every year, there's a new crop of kids going to theaters to see these blockbusters. Overall, the superhero genre is far from slowing down.

It will be very interesting to see what Disney/Marvel does with X-Men and Fantastic 4. If they screw them up, just like 20th Century Fox did, oh boy....look out....

Looks like they announced 3 more shows coming to Disney+ :

Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel (the 21st century teenage girl version), and She-Hulk

I can’t imagine Moon Knight getting the ultra violence and lunacy that he needs to be represented accurately. Cool character though.

She-Hulk could go either way. The character’s sense of humor does fit in line with the lighter touch that the MCU has been trying lately. She’s better as a team player though imho so hopefully she’ll mosey on over to the films...and likely/eventually, the Avengers roster.

I totally don’t care about the Ms. Marvel one. They could’ve gone with all sorts of more established, more interesting characters than her but I’m thinking Disney has their agenda.

Why not Longshot!?!? He was awesome.

Because until just recently when Disney bought out Fox, Longshot would’ve been grouped with the X-Men characters. Unusuable until the very recent acquisition. The MCU probably would want to intro the bigger X-Men characters like Wolverine, Magneto, etc. before anyone like Longshot.

But...but....Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique!! They just HAVE to have Jennifer involved. Gotta sell tickets.....

That second batch of X-Men movies had a lot of problems and she was one of the biggest issues I had. Just really flat acting that didn’t seem like Mystique at any point.

The best Mystique depiction was in X2 by Stamos.

After the train wreck that was X-Men 3, I quit. The new cast didn’t interest me one bit.

Fassbender does as great a job as a younger Magneto.

I’d grade all the X-movies like this...

X1: B-

X2: A-

X3: F

First Class: C+ (the Fassbender parts early on are quality)

Days of Future Past: B

Apocalypse: F

Dark Phoenix: (skipped because I thought it’d be total garbage)

Of the main cast, Lawrence was easily the worst in both groups and Jackman or Stewart was possibly the best.

Well, Morbius is supposed to come this summer. However, since it’s a Sony property, the chances of him crossing over into the MCU is extremely low. Virtually zero. At best, you could get Spidey appearing in a Morbius movie due to Spidey being Sony/MCU with an asterisk. But that’s it as far as MCU characters. Venom, however, could certainly appear in Morbius and vice versa since both are totally Sony properties.

Dazzler has a cameo in X-Men Dark Phoenix. Cameo was fine but the movie was crap. Don’t watch it.
