goose
Wow. Lee, who was one off the lead after round 1 at -6, is +4 on the day so far. That puts Koepka 4 shots up on the field before he has to tee off.

goose
"The PGA Championship’s B Flight is shaping up for a fantastic finish" https://www.golf.com/news/columns/2019/05/19/pga-championship-b-flight-ready-for-fantastic-finish/ "...don’t knock the PGA’s B Flight. Sure, the A Flight winner [which will be 7-stroke leader Brooks Koepka] gets his name on the Wanamaker and a bigger check and a permanent parking spot and a New York City media tour, but the B Flight has its own perks. You still get a million bucks and get to skip all those press conferences, TV cameras and goofy morning shows. You simply hop in your jet and head back to Florida or Texas or South Carolina or wherever home is. The A Flight winner may ring in Wall Street on Monday morning, but the B Flight winner gets pancakes and OJ in his own kitchen."
goose
Koepka kept it interesting on the back nine by making four straight bogies after playing level par through ten holes. The mini-collapse councided with a bit of a charge by Dustin Johnson, so tge once 7-stroke lead shrank down to one. A DJ bogie ultimately put the gap back at two strokes, which was all Koepka needed to win in the end. Just shows how tough it is to win out there. Woodland really played great and deserved to win. While I'm complaining the crowd might have been more annoying than the broadcast if that's possible. Over the top assholes in the crowd everywhere apparently and microphones picking up every stupid comment...
goose
How 'bout Koepka? With a final-round 68, Koepka became the first player to shoot in the 60s for all four rounds in the event and not win. Going back to last year's closing 68 at Shinnecock Hills, Koepka also became the first player ever to shoot five consecutive rounds in the 60s at the U.S. Open. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/us-open-2019-how-brooks-koepka-made-us-open-historyand-didnt-win-at-pebble-beach
goose
And then there's the Spieth drama, with Jordan getting after his caddy. https://www.sbnation.com/golf/2019/6/15/18679222/2019-us-open-jordan-spieth-yells-at-caddie-michael-greller ...microphones caught Spieth bristling after hitting his ball in the ocean and then over the green. “Two perfect shots, Michael [spieth's caddy],” he said. “You got me in the water on one and over the green on the other.” The video: The fallout... “You’re a good caddie, Michael!” one fan shouted as Greller descended off the 6th tee for his walk up that coastal par-5. The pair’s second loop through the 8th hole this week went slightly better than the miscommunications and misplays of the first round. Spieth hit it deep again, missing the minuscule green, but was able to get up-and-down to save a par. After he poured in the 11-foot putt for the save, someone screamed “That a way, Michael!” as if the caddie had rolled the putt himself. These shouts and calls for “Michael” cascaded throughout the day, which is exactly what both Spieth and Greller probably do not want. At the 15th hole, Spieth’s 6th of the day after going off the back nine, he asked Greller, “This won’t go over no matter what, right?”Greller promptly responded, “No.” Then Spieth struck the ball and blurted out a line at Greller we’ve heard before while the ball is in the air. “Hope you’re right.” Hearing that from your boss at a moment of truth would creates some real tension and would stress the hell out of anyone in any field. The ball bounced once and did, in fact, go over the green.
Mithrandir
You dont think other golfers bitch at their caddies? It's just that technology catches too much for the public to hear. Part of the caddies job is to take the heat so that the golfer can stay focused and not get pissed at himself. That's part of the job. I'm sure Michael is fine with it or he wouldn't be caddying. Greller has earned about $5 million as Spieths caddy. And Greller sort of screwed up by not noticing the rake that Spieth hit on his bunker shot. Either way the ball didn't clear the lip clean and hit the rake buried in the grass. Certainly not Grellers fault...

goose
Meanwhile, at St Jude's...Koepka rolls in only 45 minutes before his tee time and proceeds to lay down a wicked good round, -4 on the day so far. Playing partner McIlroy is four strokes back, with Webb Simpson, -6 on the day, just two back of the lead. Webb is running out of holes, though.
