Albums you love despite their flaws.

Toto- Turn Back (8/10)

The 2018 remaster is stunning, and really provides a level of oomph missing from the original. Still, it's ultimately the songs that counts and these are great songs for the most part.

EDIT: think this deserves to stay in this thread lol

Jeff Buckley- (Sketches for) My Sweetheart the Drunk

Since it was finished off posthumously by Buckley’s remaining band, several of the tracks definitely still feel like they’re missing something. The second disc is especially spotty.

But the first disc has some of my very favorite Jeff songs- The Sky is a Landfill, Opened Once, Morning Theft, Vancouver, and the absolutely haunting You and I.

(since the list format seems blown up)

Rush - Presto (thin sound, the songs are there)

King's X - Please Come Home...Mr. Bulbous (weird, experimental album...not for everyone. Too short an album)

Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity - ("commercial" I guess, but it's a favorite)

Please Come Home has some great stuff.

Marshmallow Fields, Julia... some filler too.

The album cover just plain sucks though. That has a lot to do with a lot of the negative unfortunately.

My band opened for them in San Diego on that tour. Maybe 15 people at the show.

!5 people? That's a damn shame. Yeah, they have some odd album covers. I like the Bulbous one because it looks good on my tour shirt.

One major flaw for me is they cut "Move Me" in two parts for some reason...irks me because it's one of my favorites.

Muse - Drones

Other Muse fans online have made me well aware of its imperfections...but that hasn't dulled its awesomeness one bit to me.

Paul Mccartney

Mcartney II

Pipes of Peace

Mick

McCartney II is the bees f*cking knees. Great stuff.

it's paul gone Crackers and i love it.

Mick

It's Paul smoking some fine herb and having fun while making some fine music.

Love the bass and drums in Bogey Music. I think he plays arpeggiated 7ths and changes the 7th each time. It's...disorienting, but in the best of ways.

And that guitar line is f*cking sweet, pardon my language.

I'm a Trailer Park Boy, and it's cool to be able to talk to a fancy New Yorker such as yourself, over the wonder of the internets, such as it is. :D

Kiss Hotter Than Hell - sounds like a bag of dicks, but a fine album of material.

Interesting description/assessment...I’ve always wondered why it is that that one sounds so much different- and not in a good way- compared to the debut, and Dressed to Kill (which is my favorite Kiss record)...it’s just odd.

One of McCartney's flaws is that he has too many ideas. McCartney II is all over the place, twisting and turning at a whim, but sometimes it's fun getting dizzy.
