What Are We Drinking Tonight??

Dunno about tonight, but right now I'm going to have the filthiest of drinks: the Long Island iced tea.

It's a firm and delightful blend of three white liquors - generally vodka, rum, and gin - but can really be any old thing topped up with cola so you can't taste how drunk you're getting. Triple Sec is optional. So is stomach lining.

Whee!

Heineken. :givebeer:

i used to love Heineken. Good beer!

I agree, used to love it, too.

But my favorite beer of all time was Newcastle brown ale.

It's a free concert night, and the stage is a block away, so we're having the first open house of the summer.

So, what's to drink? Anything and everything.

Campanology Euphony German Pilsner. Picked this up at Trader Joe's 'cause they were going for 5.99 a sixer. Tasty and crushable, an all day pounder.

Ah, but Total Wine emailed my rewards club sixer discount coupon, so all bets are off. Will hit them up Wednesday!

People are drinking less alcohol than they used to, especially younger people because it's not considered cool anymore. A lot of them are choosing coffee or energy drinks instead of beer or wine.

I know some guys who still drink beer and I'm ok with that, especially during the playoffs. But wine just seems to me like it's a drink for old ladies. I could be wrong.

Getting drunk isn't cool anymore. A lot of that has to do with social media and people like Lindsay Lohan.

About 20 years ago you were a social outcast if you didn't drink. Now it's like the other way around.

A lot of people are going on juice binges. This is why some brewers are adding fruit flavors to their beer.

But one doesn't have to drink to the point of drunkeness. Sometimes I take myself out a nice cold (an ice cold?) beer, and it's just right. With BBQ, or after mowing the yard. Or I have a little bourbon (Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, or Pappy Van Winkle, if I've just won the lotto) with a nice meal. It goes down a treat.

I agree that getting sloppy drunk isn't too cool, but was it ever? But having a drink or two with friends is an enhancer in a way that juice drinks are not.

Don’t try Bud Light lemon. It’s nasty.

Had some Jamaican flavored margarita at a Mexican place with family.

Had Bud Orange after an eight hour shift building a shed in 90+. Somehow, it tasted amazing.

(wow, that picture's too big . . . .)

One of these things? Looks like this? It doesn't sound like it tastes great, but I'll try anything once. Now, how to get one where I live . . . .

I remember when a friend's dad made me a vodka martini, shaken, not stirred. It was awful, possibly one of the worst things I've ever had to drink. Huge disappointment, Bond . . .
