Wicked good chowder from the Martin Hotel. We shut the place down last night and they sent us home with two huge containers of the stuff.

It pays to tip well. :)

Chile relleno combo plate with beans and rice at a Mexican place just before I see Shazam.

Not afraid you might Shazam your pants mid-movie?

Clam chowder, courtesy of the Martin Hotel, and dark rye bread, courtesy of Schat's Bakery, two of my favorite Carson City foodspots.

That is yet another thing I miss from back east. There isn't one bakery out here that I know of that makes their own bread. I miss pumpernickel bread and good old Jewish rye with those delicious crusts.

Is Domini's still in business downtown? They used to serve mad-stacked deli sandwiches on great bread.

I checked. Yep!

Thanks, Goose. I never heard of the place and I've lived out here for almost 30 years.

There's a lot of homeless down that area now. A lot. Spokane has a major problem.

The good news is that Dicks ("Buy 'em by the bagful") is still there and going strong! :)

Hamburger Helper Tomato Basil Penne

Yum!

I used leftover tri-tip to whip up some beef bourguignone and served it with steamed carrots on a bed of spaghetti tossed with olive oil and parsley. Salad and sourdough as sides.

Meatloaf

Thanks for reminding me that I haven't made that in a long time. Not sure why I don't more often.

They sell a veal and beef mixture here and it makes a good meatloaf. I like to put a couple strips of bacon on top of the meatloaf when it is baking. Gives it a good flavor.
