Today I bought the recent Digipak editions of these Iron Maiden albums (for the first time!):

Iron Maiden

Killers

The Number Of The Beast

Piece Of Mind

A little disappointed that after much hype, there are no real incentives to buy these. No essays, pictures or anything. But I saw so much hype on social media and in magazines. Still, I don't own any Maiden albums except A Matter Of Life And Death, and I plan to buy them all this year in this series.

Buckingham McVie- Buckingham McVie

Slightly annoyed this wasn't released as a Fleetwood Mac album.

THERE ARE PLENTY OF GREAT FM ALBUMS WITHOUT STEVIE NICKS ON IT!

Oh okay, was thinking you had an awesome first listening experience ahead of you, but that's still cool.

To a point I do. Haven't listened to some of these albums in ages, many I never became super familiar with. Such as the first two.

Played them today. Killers is great but I honestly found myself thinking "Bruce would sound better".

I agree but those songs weren't written for Bruce's voice. The songs would obviously be miles better if they were. Bruce just elevated Maiden to a whole other level with his presence. Di'anno just wasn't the guy they needed to get to to the next level. It's like if Rush never got Neil. We would be on a board dedicated to another band while treeduck would create a thread about remembering two great unknown bands back in the day called Iron Maiden and Rush which would only get replies from Earl.

Oh agreed. I really enjoyed those two early albums but I felt like on Killers especially, the vocals don't match the music. I prefer the debut.

Killers is much better than the debut. Di'anno just didn't have the vocal ability to ever do better than that. He improved as a vocalist from the debut but there's just no way he would have been capable of doing what they wrote for Number Of The Beast. It would be like when Blaze tried to sing the Bruce stuff live. I know it comes off like I don't like Di'anno which isn't true. He's just someone a band can only get so far with. Which has been proven by the fact that he's done nothing of significance in 35 years and has milked being on those two albums for all it's worth. Blaze does the same thing as well.

I hear ya. What I do know is that I found his voice grittier and I appreciated the snarl to his tone. I also prefer his vocals to James Labrie, who I thought he sounds a bit like on his higher notes.

I only have the greatest hits, but my favorite is America.

My sister and I used to listen to the 8 track and play rummy for hours on end.

My sister got Bookends when it was released, and I borrowed it soon after that. "Fakin' It" is my Fave song by them.

Yesterday I could finally pick up the Black Halo of Kamelot!!

I waited a long time for this album, and although I already heard it, I'm glad to have it now.

It looks great and ofcourse sounds great!! 1022.gif

A great and sincere review of this album has already been posted by Kazz.

I don't know if this person is still here or not. But I definitely bought two Kamelot albums just now, "The Shadow Theory" and "Epica"

Sounds like My type of music! [and Sorry, KAZZman, but you had NOTHING to do with my choice! LOL]

O.r.k are an obscure prog band (despite having members from King Crimson and Porcupine tree). Their latest album (Ramagehead) isn't as strong as their prior two, but worth a listen. My favorite from the new album:
