goose
I couldn’t be a bigger atheist, but I love the religious Christmas songs the best. I really despise the cutesy ones, like Rudolph,Alvin and the Chipmunks doing anything, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, and SHIT like that. But some great old 40s or 50s crooner version of O’ Holy Night or Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night, or Bing Crosby smoothing through White Christmas...well, I love all of that kind of thing. And while not a Christmas song, hearing Ave Maria this time of year performed by some stellar soprano can reduce me to tears. :goodone:

Of the latter day pop stars I like Springsteen doing Santa Claus is Coming To Town (the one cutesy tune I can stand), the McCartney and Lennon songs, The Eagles tune...and I can even accept that Mariah Carey’s song has become a modern day classic.Nat King Cole doing The Christmas Song (..........chestnuts roasting on an open fire)
