Entre_Perpetuo
Many bands have an awesome, defining, breakthrough album. Some even have multiple. But few manage to follow up a career high with another great record. So here we’ll list albums that managed follow up a band’s career high successfully and live up to (or even beat) it! 1. Aerosmith - Rocks How do you follow up one of the greatest pure rock and roll albums ever made? Do it again, but even better ;) Stand out track: Last Child Edited December 8, 2018 by Entre_Perpetuo

I selected "Hemispheres" as a follow up to "A Farewell to Kings" which is Rush at their best, in my opinion. Where do you go from there? A little closer to the peak of perfection.

David Bowie - Aladdin Sane Weirder, bolder, and rougher than Ziggy before it. But still an awesome album through and through. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman 5. David Bowie - Aladdin Sane6. Queen - A Day at the Races 7. The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (or the White album if you don’t count that) In a way Pepper’s only hinted at the psychedelic possibilities in The Beatles music, but MMT cemented them. Sure half of the LP version was a compilation of American singles, but it became the only American version of a Beatles record to become the official version for a reason, and that’s because the songs flow well and make sense together. Yes - Close To The Edge Fragile was awesome, it had Roundabout, it introduced Waksman to the band, and it really defines Yes’ sound. But CTTE went further on every front, subsequently becoming their landmark achievement among prog fans everywhere. With only three songs they transported listeners to fantastic places in their minds. AC/DC - Back In Black So, after five albums you finally get your signature sound dialed in to a more radio-friendly version, putting out an album containing a fistful of hits, and your singer died? Tough break. How do you recover from that? By getting a new singer and putting out one of the top-selling albums of all time.

The band know their sound at this point, so they show it off with some of their best compositions while also experimenting with new sounds.
