Only mildly, but an online check of my library account said a cd set I had returned two weeks ago was still on loan, and therefore overdue. I returned it by a through the wall book drop slot there. Called tyem up and explained, they said they'd record the claim and look for it. Oh well :eh:

Libraries? Those things still exist?

Yes, they house amazing things such as books, cd's, and dvd's that you can borrow and enjoy.

So, it does the same stuff as the internet only you have to leave the house instead?

That stuff and much more! :ranton: Our library has a really excellent live music program once a month that has had some pretty good Bluegrass and Americana bands. This month it will be holiday brass. Also, libraries are the #1 place of internet access for people that do not have home access for whatever reason (and you would be surprised, it's a lot of people.)

There was also an interesting feature on NPR the other day about the movies on DVD that libraries have , that for whatever ownership rights reasons, are not and may never be available for streaming but are still available on DVD. Our library has the entire Criterion collection, which is a curated ongoing collection of "important classic and contemporary films on home video. ..." that has really interesting movies. (Big favorites of Lucas, lol.). But this time of year I just end up getting "White Christmas" and "Natl Lampoon Holiday Vacation!" :rant off:

Not having a library or using it would drive me crazy. I love it and I have worked in one (in a jail no less) and I pick up books and stuff weekly. I use Overdrive for audio and e-books all the time. We have a great library system in our county and I use a couple of city libraries too. The internet fills a niche but it will never replace the experience of going to the library, IMHO

Absolutely! Books and cd's for me, movie and TV series Dvds for Karen and I. Karen is watching Christopher Robin as I post, and she has some 20 items she is on a wait list for. I use the internet mostly for videos from YouTube, but some things are just better when supported by a 120 watt sound system and accompanied by buttered popcorn hot and fresh out of the Whirly Pop. Hey, it even makes Rush Dvds look and sound better!

Agreed! And I had forgotten about Christopher Robin, thanks!

Yep. Old habits die hard, like old mediums. Hell, on occasion I even use cassette and VHS tapes.

Yeah, I got into the library we had in Saline back when my girlfriend of the time worked there. She got me into Three Dog Night's "Naturally" album also, and my Favorite song, "Fire Eater"! I also discovered Herbie Hancock's "Thrust" album, and favorite song on that album, "Spank-a-Lee" back when they had Vinyl albums to lend.

My girlfriend and daughter are out of town so I came home yesterday night ready to relax only to find the cats had puked in 10 different spots around the house. On top of that, my girlfriend who's a stay at home mom, left the 2 weeks worth of dishes she said she would do before leaving. So by the time I'm done the dishes a(no washer) at 9 o'clock, I'm ready to take a shower but we're out of hot water for some reason. No shower. I finished dinner at 10, get into bed to watch something, and check my phone for the first time since I got home at 6 to find that my girlfriend is pissed that I haven't replied or asked how her trip is going. She's lucky I love her haha

Yeah, I bought it because ot that song, and "Just an Olfashioned Love Song" also. I already owned the 45 of that song I Liked 'Fire Eater' because of the fuzz tone Mike Allsup got out of his guitar and effects on that song. The Isley Brothers got that same Fuzz tone on their hit, 'That Lady' around that same time....I LOVE that sound!

Stupid gawd-dammed invisible ice in my driveway.

Walking across the street to my house was just fine.

Two steps into my driveway......WHAM.....now there's a baby Alien in my knee, ready to burst out.....

I wish it could be 70 degrees all year 'round. Kinda strange that I've come to be associated with polar Bears by this time in my life... I HATE winter now. Snow can be pretty, and looks cool with light shining off of it, but keep the COLD Outside! My skin seems to hate the cold also. I react like I'm allergic to cold air...come on SPRING!!!

I'm visiting Karen at the rehab facility. It's around 1:15 pm, we are just conversing, when I feel this horrible vibration in the floor, through the wheelchair Karen is in, the wheeled table. It's accompanied by this low rumble. I bark out, "Jesus K Reist, what the, the smack was that?" Karen explains it's blasting going on as part of construction of a supermall going on not far from there

Thought it was a freaking earthquake! Really gave me a start, and I'm sure Rocky had witnessed it he would have gone apeshit. I get the law firms representing people whose lives and property are affected by it, that was f---ed up!

My shitty excuse for an employer hasn't paid me in a month. Corksuckers.

"Glitch in the system. We'll escalate your request." I'll escalate my middle finger. Deadbeat ninnies.

Guess I'll bring a book in on Monday.

1980 - there was a 5.1 quake about 100 miles south of me in Kentucky.

Sitting at home, watching TV, and then RRRRRRRRUMBLE ...... Shaking and vibrating everywhere.....the entire Cincinnati area felt it.

Of all natural phenomena, that was the least expected to happen there .....

I’m listening to UYI1 by GnR on Spotify and for some strange reason, The Garden and Bad Obsession are not available. I don’t know if it’s for copyright reasons or something. Thankfully, I have options like Youtube and got all their 3 albums on the iCloud since my Xmas gift card in 2007 but still. Come on, Geffen/Universal. Alice Cooper is one on of those songs ffs.
