The category just below awful should be named for "Half the World".

Hey man I'm not a fan either

No, but in my opinion it's the worst thing in their catalog, especially lyrically, and that includes the debut.

Yeah it's pretty bad, but Dog Years for me is the worst

for me its Anagram. I am ashamed how much I loathe it.

That’s a pretty decent score for this thought just a few weeks ago:

Rush's first album didn't have Neil on it, and 85% of the album was shitty mush for me mate.

You’ve come around to like the debut? That’s cool as there are some good tunes on it.

Can I ask a favor of many of my forum colleagues? Can we stop pretending Limelight is an “okay” song? It’s one of their best songs.

Thanks.

THIS! it is the perfect Rush song

It’s the perfect representation of Rush musically and lyrically. 10 out of 10 points on a 10 out of 10 album.

One of Rush’s bests? It’s not my personal best but it’s way way up there. Certainly in my Top 10.

Earthsine is below avg, but Madrigal is great?

I respect your take on those two offerings. I personally believe it is a product of when one was introduced to Rush that drives an affinity for any particular one of their songs. My virgin voyage into the Rush hemisphere was in 1976 with CoS. I listened to CoS and then 2112 on the same night. I fell in love with both of those albums and every song on each. My mom gave me AFTK for Christmas in 1977. I was transfixed and loved the way the album ebbed and flowed. I really liked Rivendell and Tears the very first time I heard them, so when I heard Madrigal, it just reinforced my love for the band's versatility (besides loving the songs). Honestly, I still find listening to VT painful. IMO, after the band reconvened post-Neil's tragedies, their music was never the same ( and I'm not talking about their progressive nature, just the writing and song structure ).

In any event, we're all blessed to have those albums and songs we love so much. :rush:

Old Rush good, New Rush bad.

You really miss out on a lot of great music when you're so prejudiced to their modern stuff.

"Prejudiced"? Wow, now that's rather presumptuous. Just because I prefer older Rush over their latest music doesn't mean that I'm prejudiced against their newer stuff. "Prejudiced" denotes unfair treatment. I have been completely fair to their newer music by listening to it numerous times. I simply prefer their older material. I still listen to T4E, VT, S&A and CA regularly on Rush Radio. Am I required to like ALL of their music? I think not.

ATWAS is my absolute favorite live album. Just so raw, powerful and fearless. While I love the entire show, By-Tor and the Snowdog is my favorite song from ATWAS. Alex's playing was other-worldly on that song. Panacea!!! What a gem. Tears and Different Strings are so great. The band was so multi-faceted.

Yes... RushRadio.net... I listen to it everyday... I wish they would play some deeper cuts, but I'd rather listen to Rush Radio than anything else on the planet...
