Matt Barlow has a new band called Ashes of Ares, which released their sophomore album on November 09th. I'm going to interview him THIS MONDAY, Nov 12th. Here's a song off their new album:

If you have questions for him, let me know!

I LOVE ICED EARTH!

Keep meaning to finally collect their albums. I enjoy them more than Iron Maiden.

Cool.

Ashes Of Ares first album was pretty good always down for anything Matt Barlow sings on.

Iced Earth is the only band whose artwork is on the same level as Iron Maiden. I don't like them more than Maiden but really have no issue if someone thinks they are. That's how good Iced Earth is.

To be honest they are both amazing I just prefer the often grittier style of Iced Earth.

Both bands have AMAZING artwork!!!

I know Iced Earth has had issues with changing singers but I've always been shocked they were never a lot more popular in North America. Especially when Barlow was with them. Such a great range with both power and emotion in his voice. To me, they sound like something most old school metal fans would dig. I guess it all comes down to the record companies not promoting them strongly enough.

Oh, man...I just finished th intervew, and he was such a cool guy to talk to! I've never seen a musician being so cool about his former band, especially a singer. And I even got him to do a falsetto for me in the call!!!

Yeah, both times he left Iced Earth it was his choice. So, there are no really bad feelings between him and Jon Schaffer. That's why he was so cool about it.

They're brothers in law too, so I guess that helps.

Forgot about that. It certainly helps I'm sure. Matt would probably still be with Iced Earth if he had the desire to commit full time to music still. Glad he's still doing something though. Too good of a voice to stay silent.
