Blind Melon & Primus

Blind Melon was a one hit wonder with the song "No Rain" in the early 90's but my friend and I adore Blind Melon because they are a gold mine for hidden gems, Especially their "Soup" album. right now I'm wondering if any you fine human beings also listen to their other songs and I wanna know you thoughts (If you haven't and you're interested I suggest to start out with "Tones of Home" and "St. Andrews Fall")

Also the same thing for Primus, I wanna know your thoughts on them because Rush, Blind Melon, Primus and the Skate 3 Soundtrack is all I listen to nowadays and I wanna know if anyone else does

Primus opening for Rush during Roll The Bones was a treat. I generally preferred the later tours with no opener (and thus more Rush), but Primus was one exception.

I'm not a big fan of Primus but have huge respect for their musical ability and unique sound.

No Rain is one of the most annoying songs of all time. Like I wish I was deaf when it came on kind of annoying. I've stayed far away from Blind Melon because of that.

I don't seeks out their studio work, but seeing them live (headliners at Reno's Grand Sierra) was one of the best shows I've seen. Front row, with the full Chocolate Factory. What Claypool can do with his bass is just amazing to watch close up.

Blind Melon was great...those two albums still hold up today. I wouldn't call them a one hit wonder though. "No Rain" was big because of the massive video airplay, but they had many superior songs..."Changes", "Galaxie", "Tones of Home" just name a few

I wouldn’t call them a one hit wonder either.

That debut has gotten consistent play with me over the last 25 or so years. One of my favorite albums from the 90s without a doubt.

Here’s a cool little version of “Change”:

Change still touches me, despite all the years since I owned that album. It's a classic recording of that 90s alt rock ("college radio rock") era.

I totally agree. Great tune. But then again, I love that whole album.

I definitely played the hell out of it for a couple years. Collaborator recently referenced Change as inspiration for one of the songs we were working on, which stoked my interest in the band again. There's a lot of bands from that era I'd long forgotten that have aged rather well. Looking back, it was a good time for music.

I’ve mentioned this on TRF before - another band from that era that’s often overlooked is Screaming Trees. I think their last album, Dust, from ‘96 is the best album to come out of the 90s. And that includes anything from Rush.

Other great 90s album that I’d put way up there are Smashing Pumpkins’ Gish & Siamese Dream, Alice in Chains’ Dirt, and Jane’s Addiction’s Ritual de lo habitual.

I feel all of the albums in this post have truly lasted the test of time just like Blind Melon’s debut.

Never wanted to see Blind Melon live because I didn't want to get peed on.

how about L7? donita sparks tossed a tampon in the crowd

Nobody could be worse than GG Allin ever was

he got a club shut down in my hometown. I think that's the last time someone even remotely related to rock music played here

I had all those albums, still listen to Dirt, Siamese Dream. Haven't owned the others probably since the 90s. Youtube's got my back.
