Saint NIck
I've been listening to Hold Your Fire a whole lot lately; just about all the songs I consider ABSOLUTE TREMENDOUS MASTERPIECES including Tai Shan. I know a lot of Y'all are gonna bash me for it, but I think this 'China' song is beautiful.
PermanentMovingSignals
It's a great album, but I don't like Tai Shan. Mission, Turn The Page, Time Stand Still, and Force Ten are fantastic songs. The other songs are good as well, but they should have put an instrumental on the album instead of Tai Shan.
J2112YYZ
The album is great until it gets to the screeching halt that is Tai Shan. High Water suffers a bit having to follow it bit it's still a solid song.
bathory
I don't think anyone's gonna give you shit for liking the record here. this is really the only place in the world where you can talk to actual humans who like HYF
Entre_Perpetuo
Tai Shan is fine. High Water on the other hand... But yeah most of the album is good at worst. Not a bad record by any means.

JohnnyBlaze
Hold Your Fire is the last Rush album in which I think every tune on it is worthy of being there. Yes, even Tai Shan and High Water. Especially High Water. Tai Shan is the weakest song on there by far but it’s far from being bad to my ears.
Mithrandir
The only Rush album that has two songs that i never listen to...Tai Shan and High Water Side 1 is great!! :)
Wil1972
I've come to appreciate it more now than I did 20 years ago. A solid 3 star disc (out of 5). Wish "Turn the Page" had returned to the set list as I'd always wanted to hear that live.
theredtamasrule
I love HYF. However I think the Guys At Work messed up the track order. They HAD, HAD, HAD to start the album with Tai Shan. Followed by Second nature. Other than that it’s brilliant. I do love it though.
canadianice
Just revisited A Show of Hands, after a long break from it. Absolutely shows what a great album HYF was.

ytserush
It's a masterpiece from start to finish. Or at least close to one as most Rush albums are.
grasbo
Always liked HYF and I have no problem with Tai Shan. Not keen on Lock and Key,too poppy.High Water is passable, just.Alex said in a guitar mag a few years later that it felt stodgy soundwise and I agree with him after the gloriously atmospheric Power Windows
Fridge
To me it's the last album truly worthy of the Rush brand, however, the rot had started to set it. Force Ten is embarrassing, and the last two tracks are abysmal.....apart from that it's a damn fine collectionof songs.
