I don't know how much more Croatia has left in the tank, after playing basically one extra game at this event. During the England game, players were telling the coach that they feel fine, and that there's no need to substitute them. And it definitely showed, as they became stronger the longer the match went on. Still, all those overtimes, plus France having one more day of rest, must put Mbappe & Co as favorites on Sunday.

One would think the extra rest may be a factor. But didn't France have a tougher path to the final, minute for minute?

I'm rooting for the Croats, as it would be a great story.

Yes, France had the tougher road, and yet it was Croatia who had to play three overtimes. Also, Croatia is one of the oldest if not the oldest team in the tournament, and that early start tomorrow is not going to help them. The game was originally scheduled for 8pm but was moved up three hours. Not good news for guys that have played soccer for over a decade.

That move-up gives the west coast an 8AM start. :(

That gives you more time to celebrate, if applicable. :spitwater:

You have to feel sorry for Croatia. Even with all the extra work they had to do in the tournament, they showed a more of a team game look than the French. In the end, they lacked the scoring touch France had. Maybe with a killer-instinct striker, they wouldn't have to go into three overtimes and waste so much energy.

Somehow it's appropriate the the Fairy Cup was won by the world's biggest fairy nation.

f***in surrender monkeys.

You are truly an educated, enlightened, classy man.

After all the preliminaries the final two matches were, IMHO, anticlimactic. England's offense went non-existent against Belgium-2 losses in the same tournament is downright embarrassing - followed by the Croats completely no showing against the smelly cheese frog eaters. Oh well, guess I'll just chill until August 10 and the Premier League start. Edited by pjbear05

What part was wrong?

I'm not sure, but I think England and especially Greece would beat France to the Final in this regard. :coy:

International Champions Cup going on, lots of good matches, although Man U getting starched 4-1 by Liverpool a bit of a laugh. Bayern Munich and Man City about to kick it off from down here at Hard Rock.

Deep reserves played in that Man City win. Lewandowski is taking some time off. After watching his performance in the WC, I don't understand why. If Real Madrid and Man U are interested in him, he should be showcasing himself.

Seems like quite of few WC players- Pogba and Lukaku of note-were being sat. Maybe teams are holding them for later in the tourney, but I suspect they want them fresh for the start of Premier League play.

Wisla, a team that sells their star player for merely a half a million, has problems scraping up enough money to pay the city in order to use the stadium, now sits in 2nd place in the standings. Will it last?

Woo, what an end of the season for the BPL. Man City repeats as champ with Liverpool only a point behind. I probably wore out my remote switching amongst NBC's channels yesterday. Now to see if City can get the treble with beating Watford Saturday for the FA Cup.

And how about four other English teams involved in the two Cup finals? Unbelievable.

Champions League Final turned out to be less than memorable. I think it was too long from the end of the season to the final. It may have contributed to the sloppy play. Nevertheless my team was victorious which was great to see after having such a good season but missing out on the EPL title. So glad to see the victory for Klopp as he is so much like Shankly and Paisley were as mangers.

The hand ball at the beginning of the game was a bit harsh. The ball hit the defender's side torso and then the arm. Could have been let go, and not only because it was the first minute of the game. Nothing wrong with the second, what a strike. :notworthy: Anyway, the right team won in the end. Liverpool has more quality players, especially up front. The half-naked girl wasn't bad either. I'm sure the left in America will try to link her with Trump. :eyeroll: Enjoy your win, Citizen.

It's a good idea giving national teams something to fight for, instead of playing friendlies, where players are performing at half speed. Looking forward to next year's edition.

+7:00 of stoppage time in today's USA-Sweden match. There was a long replay review on the off-side no-call, but 7 minutes is a lot. The most I've ever seen, I think. Edited by goose

It was a little difficult to figure out, also! (Especially in our house, where my husband is trying to improve his Spanish by watching on Telemundo . . . )
