The Royal Wedding !! Thoughts ??

Did anyone else watch the Royal Wedding? Thoughts? I was just jealous of the sunshine! It has been raining here for 7 days straight. I liked the bishop's homily about love- very well said. I thought Megan's dress was a little bit plain but I guess they were staying away from too much lace and stuff.

Refuse to watch this sorry farce.....it utterly disgusts me that even in this day there are so many forelock-tugging, sycophantic, arselicking Royalists...they are an utter embarrassment and an anachronism which should be abolished immediately.

No doubt she will be pregnant as quickly as a rat up a drainpipe and producing more expensive breadsnappers to suckle off the teat of the state.......ugh.

I don't give two craps about an English royal wedding, yet I can't wait for season 3 of The Crown. Weird...

My mother set up her DVR when she realized she was full of crap saying, "I'll wake up at 5am".

I do wish them luck.

Aren't the "Royals" basically self sustaining and a tourism draw?

They may be a tourist draw but they certainly aren't self-sustaining, they receive millions every year from the Civil List.....they would still be a tourist draw if they were actually self-sustaining.

I don't care about the British monarchy itself, but they do know how to put on a bangin ceremony.

Yes, but we don't have any here so it's pretty fascinating for some reason. There were so many people women here wearing hats and having Royal Wedding breakfasts; I was surprised at how many of my friends did it. I enjoyed it but watched the highlights a little later in the AM.

This is her second marriage so I don't put too much into it. But she hunted him down and bagged him so good for her. I do enjoy Neapolitan ice cream so yea!!!!!!

While the monarchy is an anachronism in this day and age, and the older generations have the annoying habit of telling people how to live, this younger generation, Diana's kids, seem to be a pretty good lot and do a lot for charity, and Harry started the invictus Games, which give back to those who suffered for having served their country. And whatever you think of the royals, it was the elected officials that sent the you no men into battle.

Bashing the younger generation as personally as some do seems a bit unseemly.

got up early and watched it on cbs. I t was a job well done. Gorgeous. I loved the sermon and the somewhat smack in the head the audience got. The boy behind Meghan how his face lit up when the trumpets started it was priceless! Dress understated. i wanted to sit with her mom and give her a hug! Plenty of people do not like the Royals but that's fine but many people do. Keep Calm and Adjust Your Fascinator, Y'all...

If you were referring to me, allow me to clarify: I have no beef personally with any of the Royals (they didn't ask to be born into their circumstances), but the institution itself, which i find abhorrent and anachronistic.

I wasn't referring to you as, as you suggest, your criticism wasn't personal.

Hearing the fashion Nazi's complain that her dress was too plain was bullshit. She's hot enough that she could make a potato sack look good. She looked fantastic...I appreciate the less is more approach.

This Harry guy looks nothing like Charles

In fact, Diana had an instructor who taught her to ride ( horses ) .... By the looks for things, horses weren;t the only thing

Harry and Diana's riding instructor James Hewitt

 SMH :sigh: Royals watching bring out all kinds of people. I watched part of it because it was a nice story, a happy story for a change (a reminder there are some admirable people in public service still) a great escape from the daily bs of our government :eyeroll:.

I am an anglophile of sorts so I have watched the Royals for many years and I think they did a fantastic job. The gown was lovely, understated but classy. The American Episcopal priest gave a fiery sermon (to the astonishment of the audience ;)) I watched the BBC broadcast and enjoyed it. I hope they can be happy.
