Aren't the episodes Angela Kang has written among the worst of the series?

I dont know are they?

I had a look — she’s written or co-written 20 episodes. Half were from season 2 to 5, the other half were from season 6 to now.

If you’d like to take a closer look at the episodes she wrote, check it here:

Goodbye Carl - officially. Thoughts on the mid season premiere?

Show is in a down right free fall for me. Very hard to stick with it at this point. I thought Fear The Walking Dead's last season is much better than this right now. Just really bad. I have lost interest in the characters....I don't care about them anymore. And the I just feel the plot has gone off the rails and feels recycled at this point. Terminus and The Governor were the high points and it has been all down hill since.

Agreed. They're running out of sharks to jump.

Terrible mid-season premiere made all the worse by extending it by a third. The second episode was a lot better. How could it not be? Jadis snapped back to reality and can speak proper English again. Rick dripping sweat for about the 40th episode in a row.

On life support......I really may throw in the towel. It is painful....but the grind is real. I have been a faithful fan since day one Halloween 2009. I am hoping...beyond hope I can get a nice ending to this shows run.....but it truly looks like it has run it's course.

I thought the last episode was pretty good..! :D

The mistake you disappointed folks make was suffering from the delusion that it was ever (really) any good to begin with. It was never a great show (ever) and, yes, like anything it's had its ups and downs and being 7-8 seasons in is a long slog for any show...let alone one about zombies.

This great collapse I see people cite is pretty laughable to me. It's cool you don't like it, but the summit it fell from never existed. It's a mediocre show that moves along like a daytime soap opera, well acted by some, less so by others. It's guilty pleasure TV at its best or worst, depending on what that means to you.

You want to chart real decline, go watch True Blood. :P

Agree and disagree with that.

For me it’s been a gradual decline over the years but the biggest drop was when they reached Alexandria. I haven’t seen any episodes this season and I’ve only seen the second half of last season’s episodes. To me, there’s a big gap between the last episodes I saw (second half of season 7) and season 1. But, as I said, it was a gradual decline and not too surprising for me. Even some of The Governor bits were pretty cheesy...but still, they weren’t as bad as the garbage site people imho.

What else? I did like the season where they had to split up after the takeover/destruction of the prison. But then the resolution of the whole cannibal story which followed not long after was fast and unsatisfying.

As far as acting goes, there’ve been more I’ve disliked (Carl, Michonne, Beth, Glenn, Sacha, Rosita, Tara, many more) than liked (Shane, Daryl, Morgan, Abraham, and maybe just a couple more).

I have to agree with pretty much everything you said. The decline was gradual and not steep. And yes presto d this show was never great but it was different and fun for a barren Sunday night in between Mad Men seasons. The acting was never consistently very good but I did think Glenn and Sasha were more talented than the product allowed them to be.

The biggest hindrances to the quality of the show have been:

1-- Expanding seasons to 16 episodes and extending runtimes of a few episodes each season without actually adding 'meat' to the show. The extra time is all 'fat.'

2-- Not writing the show to more closely reflect how much time is passing for the viewer. Maggie's been pregnant for what, 3 seasons, yet she still isn't showing. Carl went from little kid to late teens in 8 seasons yet his sister Judith only recently started walking after being born 5 (6?) seasons ago.

3-- The disjointed amalgam of trying to make a realistic zombie/'end of the world' show while at the same time having scenes that are unrealistic/closer to the tradition of b-movie horror gore.

Yeah to pretty much all of that too.

The bit where zombie Sasha pops out of the box and attacks Negan is one of the cheesiest looking scenes that first comes to mind with her.

With Glenn I just never bought that he and Maggie were a couple. Just seemed like they were reciting lines. So I guess I can blame her too.

It may sound a bit strict/overly critical with me and this cast but hey, if Shane, Daryl, Morgan, and Abraham can/could successfully play their parts (imho) then I figure everybody else should be able to too.

Anyone still watching FTWD? Quite a shocker last episode!

FTWD is far better than TWD now. It took off last season and this one has real potential...

FTWD has been a good show since its third season, which started off excellently. While it suffered in the second half with some stupid scenarios it nevertheless was better than TWD. The current season has annoyed long time viewers by the dramatic shift in time, but even so I'm sold. The acting has improved across the board, the new characters add much needed likeability, and the cinematography embarrasses TWD. The scripts are better as well. I'm enjoying it. I don't mind moving back and forth across the time stream, and the mysteries about what happened and why are interesting to me. And before it's mentioned I'll note that the changes in Madison make sense in light of her baptismal epiphany she had at the end of last season. FTWD dropped the ball by not reminding us of that before this season started as I've read a lot about people wondering why Madison is different. I don't like skipping over the cliff hanger, but since what I'm seeing on screen is good I'll get over it.

TWD has indeed had a terrible decline, and I do believe it was very good tv at one time. I am a fan of apocalyptic fiction, primarily when its purpose is to deconstruct humanity into its base level. When our comforts and security are gone and survival is a second to second endeavor, what is a human being? Does humanity as we define it today exist, or is it a by product of our security? TWD was good at this. TWD also got away from this. What was once a show about difficult choices and humanity became the A-Team. Terrible writing and terrible characters. The garbage people were a bad idea. Negan as super-villain was a bad idea. The Kingdom was a bad idea, even though it had good acting at least in their community. Oceanside was a good idea- but with atrocious writing and acting.

There were always episodes that struggled and some actors that couldn't sell the story, but I have to disagree with some of the above opinions on the acting. I think the characters of Morgan, Gabriel, Rick, Daryl, Carol, Sasha, Glenn, Tyreese, Dale, Shane, Ezekiel, and Abraham have been very well acted. I probably missed a few. Certainly Gabriel, Morgan, Shane, Daryl, and Carol always bring their A game. Obviously writing contributes, but the best actors make me believe the dumbest things. I think the whole Ezekiel idea is stupid, but the actor nails it every time. I live in opposite land, so while most seem to prefer early Glenn- I think the actor became excellent as the character became more 'adult'.

On the other hand Beth and Carl were tough to watch, although I will say both improved a lot and were decent in later episodes.

Fear is definitely more enjoyable than TWD now. The last 2 seasons it's been spinning it's wheels with the whole Negan storyline. It needs a serious re-boot

In a perfect world (for me) the whole TWD universe would end after this past season's Negan story line. I'd be completely content.

I'm definitely more interested in Fear. Not sure about the new boy band Negan (Mel?) type that they just debuted though. Say it ain't so Nick! bummer. Your sis is still hot...keep her on the show.

Hey, after a VERY long hyatus, I started binge-watching again from Season 5. I'm halfway through Season 6 right now, and really enjoying. I just watched the first episode where Negan is mentioned. I gave this series a 3 year break, and although I'm enjoying and curious to catch up and find out the current state of things, it does feel repetitive already. The formula of "go through tough times ==> fix it ==> run into new group of strangers with new dynamics ==> solve them ==> move on" was repeated at the first camp outside town, at the prison, at the farm they found, at Terminus, at Alexandria, and now this Negan group storyline is approaching. I'm still interested though, but have they mentioned on which season they intend to end it? Maybe it's time to consider it now.
