2018 NASCAR Pick'em

Time for the 2018 pick'em game. The one big change for this year: adding playoff points. Each player will accumulate a pool of playoff points throughout the regular season, and will recieve them going into the playoffs.

Bold text indicates changes from last year's rules.

Rules:

Each week, for the first 26 weeks, you will pick one driver.

If you fail to make a pick before the Green Flag drops, you will automatically be given the top-qualifying driver that is still available on your roster. You will also be penalized up to 10 points for the late pick. (The minimum race score is 0, so you won't ever lose points on a week.) You will also be ineligible for playoff points.

Through the first 26 weeks, you can not pick the same driver twice.

You will be rewarded the same number of points and playoff points as the driver receives in the race. (based on NASCAR's new scoring system)

Along with the human players, an automatic pick will be given to a competitor called "Racer X". This automatic pick will always be based on the highest qualifying driver that has not been used on its roster.

After 26 weeks, any players ranked below "Racer X" will be eliminated from competition.

All postseason-eligible player will have their regular season points totals reduced by 2/3rds after week 26. This will tighten the field for the Chase run. In addition, each player will recieve their full pool of playoff points at this time- not reduced by 2/3rds.

In the Chase, the driver roster will reset, so you can use any driver one more time.

In the Chase, any additional playoff points earned will simply add to your point total.

Top score after the last ten races wins the championship.

If you want to play, feel free to make your Daytona 500 pick any time before the green flag drops on 2/18.

Before the green flag drops, ha! After my performance last year, it could the command to light 'em up before I decide if I'm in this year. I'm just not sure yet.

Hey gang, sorry to do this, but given little interest and time constraints, I think I'm going to call off the pick an game this year.

I'm really sorry to pull the rug out under you, but it's a lot of tracking for only a couple players, and my heart just isn't on it right now. Heck, even my interest in NASCAR is sort of at a low at the moment.

Again, my apologies. Maybe next season we can take a look at it again.

Thanks for running the game for the last two years! It was a lot of fun and made me pay a little more attention during the races. I know it must have been a lot of accounting to keep track of all of the points so I appreciate the time spent. And hopefully NASCAR will do something this season to get you interested again. :)

Kenneth is back in the 6 part time in 2018. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the ride full time in 2019.
