Here are the top 33 albums from the last poll. I tried to choose the top ten from each group, but ties were such that there were 11 in the second group, and 12 in the third group, which puts the final number advancing at 33, which is luckily divisible by three so that there will be 11 albums in each group in this round. How metal!

I'm happy to announce that two of the three Queen albums posted are advancing, and through no intervention of my own, and they also happen to be my two all time favorite Queen albums. :)

Also every Rush album made the cut, of course. Interesting that the only ones to make the first list are the five most popular and well regarded albums of their career, despite the fact that anyone could post any album. Seems the synth era and 90s fans just didn't care to post Rush in the qualifiers. As far as Rush album votes go, I believe the order was

2112

MP

PeW

Hems

AFTK

which is nearly inverse of how I would put the order, but alas, my opinions aren't universal. What a shame. :)

Also...this looks to be the hardest poll yet. I'm looking at these options and thinking theres one of my definite picks like every other album. Almost everything here has a good argument for being many people's number one. We're really splitting hairs if I have to choose between Animals and Abbey Road.

Why is group 3 so much bigger than the others?

Also, unless I missed something, there's no deadline for votes.

Hey folks. Confession time. I admit that I didn't really chose what I thought were the best or my personal favorites. I voted for albums that I thought others wouldn't vote for to make this more interesting and less predictible. I'm sure one vote won't matter but I didn't want to jump on the band wagon. I want this to be fun. So if such and such album wins for example you can't blame me. :) That being said there are no bad albums here anyway.

Not sure what you mean by bigger, they all have exactly 11 options. If you meant harder, or more difficult, yeah idk. I used a random list generator that just happened to put a bunch of absolutely phenomenal albums back to back at the end of the list. I mean, choosing between DSOTM, Abbey Road, and LZIV, among the other greatness there...that ain't easy.

Also haven't thought of a deadline yet. The last one went four or five days so...we'll say this one is over sometime on Wednesday.

As an aside, live albums should not be eligible, IMO.

Why? This was a contest for greatest album of all time, not greatest studio album of all time. Live At Leeds is just as great as some of these, and better than a few more.

Choosing seven from Group 3 would’ve worked better for me. Ultimately, Dark Side and PeW were absolutely going to be chosen. Then, it became a matter of a 5-way tie to break for my third choice.

My thoughts exactly. I can't control how the list generator picks them, but dang that was unfortunate for my sanity. I knew I was voting Queen II and PeW, but that third choice was almost impossible. I went with Ziggy Stardust almost solely based on the fact that Bowie is in my top five artists of all time and the other options are not.

It killed me to leave out A night At The Opera - it was between that and Rocks, but there is this personal connection to Rocks, Toys and Draw The Line that not many albums can compete with ..

Had I known live albums were OK, I would have nominated the greatest one ever

Yeah I didn't tell you before but I actually didn't vote for Destroyer in the last round. That said, if Alive! had been an option, that probably would've got my vote in a heartbeat.

And yeah, Rocks is excellent. These are all hard to vote against really.

The size of the print was bigger this morning but it seems to be corrected now. Sorry for the distraction.

Why? This was a contest for greatest album of all time, not greatest studio album of all time. Live At Leeds is just as great as some of these, and better than a few more.

Then why not include greatest hits compilations?

Aren’t most live albums a greatest hits of sorts?

People could've put greatest hits compilations, no one did. I agree, if we're going to accept live and studio albums, compilations should also be allowed. I think all three are fundamentally different types of album, but they're all albums just the same.

Like I said, just my opinion that live albums and greatest hits shouldn’t be part of this, unless we’re talking something like Nugent’s Intensities in 10 Cities. Not my call though. But since only one live album even got suggested, and no greatest hits did, is at least some indicia most people think of studio albums of new material when asked about the greatest album of all time.

Yeah, I mean, I totally see where you're coming from. I just didn't want people to feel limited at all.

Live At Leeds is an amazing album and I am fine with it being in the list, I think it's fair because its only one album, and plus the polls never specified what format, so yeah Live and Studio and Compilations are allowed but they should have added more in the list of those, then voting would have been easier for some people.
