I had hoped that the Packers would keep him for one more year. As the team is now more active in free agency, any veteran player with a big contract is in danger. The business side of the NFL is one cruel animal. Jordy Nelson introduced himself to the NFL in late 2010, when he took a perfect pass from Rodgers on a skinny post and zoomed 80 yards for a TD against the Giants. Rodgers and his teammates were not to be denied, even after a thorough beating by da Bears in the first half. Rodgers came out after halftime - literally one-legged - and orchestrated a comeback for the Ages. It was a total team effort. Better blocking, some great play-making by Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, and Bear-killer Randall Cobb, and a much better defensive performance all contributed to an Epic Win. Ugh That was the most bizarre, Twilight Zone, Murphy's Law game I have ever seen. Both teams made some great plays, some bad plays, and some really dumb plays. When it's Packers-Vikings, I've come to expect the unexpected, but today was truly mystifying. But the League had better figure out RIGHT NOW how the officials should call pass interference and especially roughing the passer. There is just way too much variation between officiating crews. The League and the Refs are changing/harming the sport in a fundamental way. Clay Matthews is a high-profile player, but we can be sure than many other defenders are getting the same BS treatment. People who have never played football are making up these rules. There is NO way a large defender like a LB or D-lineman can stop himself when he's rushing the QB at full force. If a running back or wide receiver had the ball out in the field, these textbook tackles would not be flagged. The NFL is only concerned with the Bottom Line - MONEY. They don't want the QB's knocked out of the game, because it would cause a drop in revenue. If they say that they care about player safety, then they're LYING. They care about losing money. The Packer defense hounded Josh Allen all game long, with nary a bad look from the refs. An excellent performance by the defense was tempered by an inconsistent Packer offense. Aaron Rodgers & Co. felt that they should have scored more often, but they have themselves to blame. Dropped passes, off-target passes, and inconsistent running the ball will do that..... The poodoo has hit the fan here in Packer Land, as it seems that Ty Montgomery willfully disobeyed the order to take a knee. The scuttlebutt says that he was pissed about being taken out of the game a bit earlier, so he acted out defiantly by taking the ball out of the end zone. His teammates are not happy with him. Fans want him cut yesterday..... :o Update: The rabid accusations against Ty Montgomery are taking a big hit. He has stated that he would never willfully go against coach's orders. He also said that he was worried about being too close to the goal line when he fielded the ball (which is quite true; he was pretty close). Montgomery has been a great guy and great teammate for the Packers.
