Rod in Toronto
I know this band has a lot of similarities with Rush, so there might be a few fans here in TRF. Earl is one of them for sure. I attended their last ever show in Toronto last Saturday night, and here's my review: http://www.sonicperspectives.com/concert-reviews/saga-february-2018/
Lucas
wow, I had no idea that Saga has 21 studio albums !!! I saw 'em open for Pat Benatar in 1982 that The Meadowlands Arena In thinking about this, and the fact that, according to my recollection, Saga didn't go over well opening for Pat Benatar -- opening acts had a much more difficult time back in the 70s and 80s ... Maybe it's the fact that there is a much more diverse age range at shows these days - but so many GOOD bands were booed and not really well received back when I was a teenager going to see shows .. There were exceptions of course - Maiden opening for Priest .. and Saxon went over great when I saw them with Rush in 1980 ... but on the whole, being an opener was no easy task back then .. Sorry for the digression

Rod in Toronto
I thought it was a really unique experience to go see a band without knowing ANY of their songs, on a farewell concert. I didn't have any time to prepare, so I didn't listen to anything. But having listened to a couple of tracks to write the review, I think that "Don't Be Late", "You're not alone" and "On the Loose" are great songs!!!!

I attended their last ever show in Toronto last Saturday night, and here's my review: http://www.sonicpers...-february-2018/ Rod! In a perfect world I would have been there with you on that Saturday night.I couldn't pull it off as you know. SAGA is up there with RUSH and TRIUMPH. I am one of the biggest SAGA fans on the earth.Yet I never saw them. I am one of the biggest Triumph fans on the earth.Never saw them. I am one of the biggest RUSH fans on the earth. Seen them 60 times in 30 years. It should have been 62 times. My parents forced me to go to my senior ball in 1986. I had my Sacramento ticket to see Rush again on the Power Windows Tour. I had to eat it.I was going to take my dad and brother down to LA to meet some friends for the S&A Tour. I came down with the fuckingg chicken pox at a Rush Marysville concert during high winds and fire. Unfuckking real. It's true. I picked up chicken pox at a Rush concert. I was in my late 30's. I wanted to die. So I couldn't go to a Rush gig in LA. Thank God I was at the LA Forum. Snuck to the front row. Saw Losing It. Saw Neil take pics with his camera eye. Saw Neil run to to front of the stage and break his barrier. Everyone on the floor was hugging and crying. I raced out of there and caught an uber. Being alone and strong does have it's quirks. I've got "No One to Depend On." Love, SANTANA

Stormtron
Unique band and I like a few songs, but I could never fully get into their albums for some reason. I like the alien bug thing on the covers though.

I remember that one too, now that you posted it, but I don't remember them playing it when I saw them (they could have, of course). I definitely remember them playing On the Loose at the show.

Rod in Toronto
They were bigger in Europe (Germany and Switzerland in particular) than in their home country, I was told. The amount of Saga nerdiness at the concert was only matched by Rush.
Mr. JD
Great band. I saw them open for Pat Benetar in Cleveland in the early 80s’. They actually went over very well. The drum solo with the briefcase was exceptional. The song “No Stranger” on Worlds Apart is one of my all time favorite songs. Our band had that song on one of our break tapes and every time it played people would ask who it was.
Rod in Toronto
Hey, one thing I didn't mention about the show anywhere is that the drum solo ended with the intro to Lakeside Park!
