I still don't understand why people like this band...

I wasn't going to burst any bubbles here but since you wrote that Pat I have to make a comment.

We all have options and opinions and I am happy for some of my friends on here who still love this mediocre piece of shit overplayed overrated overhyped Bay Area Band.

Fuckk I grew up with Metallica. They grew up 45 minutes from my childhood home. 49 minutes from my house of now.

I just can't believe how this band is so red hot to the world.

I get it when Cliff Burton was alive.

We have been over this a million times. You all know where I stand.

METALLICA RULED!

But then Cliff passed away thanks to a band draw on a card pull.

Kills me.

I loved this band.

I gave Jason a chance. You can't even hear him on And Justice For All. A polished prog MTV pop metal record for the masses. Hell, I knew Jason back in the day. Great guy. Sweet as can be! All of you brainwashed Metallica humans loving those stupid pictures of the band with their angry faces and flipping off the crowd. All fake. All a gimmick. Yet many of you rip GHOST for their schtick. Hypocrites rule the world. We all are! All good!

Then that Metallica "FLACK" Album came out. Jesus. Weak sell out corporate commercial crap metal.

Lars is truly a douche bag.

I don't understand the love for this band in 2018.

They are playing here in December. Sacramento? What the FUKK? A Bay Area Band skipping San Fran and San Jose and Oakland.

Of course they did.

They were here at AT&T Park for free. Donating the proceeds to the fire victims. So for that I commend and honor Metallica. They are all great guys minus Lars. So I'm just talking music here.

THEY ARE SHITE!

I will NEVER pay a dime again to see this band live again. Unless they resurrect Cliff Burton from the grave and play the first three albums all the way through!!!

The last time I saw Metallica was for FREE! Oh the irony!

It was at the Raiders Titans AFC Championship Game.

Metallica are huge Raiders fans which I also honor and respect.

They pulled up in the South Side of the Raider parking lot in an 53 foot trailer tractor. The side of the trailer opened up and METALLICA played for about 30 minutes for free.

The fuckking Raider Nation went NUTS! I was blown the fuckk away! It was incredible.

I remember James yelling to the crowd when they finished... "GO RAIDERS!! SORRY WE HAVE TO SPLIT! OUR MANGER AND RECORD LABEL DON'T KNOW THAT WE ARE HERE!"

That was badass.

So I have a wonderful memory with this band.

As of now?

FUKK METALLICA.

Sorry.

Don't judge.

I hope all of you who go to their shows have a wonderful time.

I would rather go to a Bowie Tribute this Saturday. SF 23 songs.

Signed,

"Space Oddity"

That's me!

If Metallica would ever think about the old school fans for once and do "Master Of Puppets" all the way through. I would go.

Does this make me a hypocrite?

Probably.

Who cares.

They played all of Master of Puppets at Summer Sonic (summer music festival) in Osaka in 2006. EVERY track and in a row. I was there and so close to the stage that the sweat from Kirk Hammett’s curls was spraying my area. I let it slide though because he had some Marvel character design on one of his guitars. :P

They played almost nothing from Re-Load and St. Anger. Good! Towards the end, they played a track off the then-unreleased Death Magnetic.

Excellent show.

I still don't understand why people like this band...

Some people don’t understand why I love Rush.

Some people don’t understand why I hate Axl Rose’s voice.

Individually, I wouldn’t put any Metallica member near the top of their respective instrument BUT they have 2 albums that I love, 3 that I like. That’s enough for me, and more than most bands in the grand scheme of things.

You bastards and your “fixed” jazz. :blaze:

Puppets and Lightning are easily my two favorite Met albums.

Lighting over Puppets every day for me, but I also prefer Justice to the both of 'em, so what do I know. :P

I love RUSH.

I love Axl Rose and Guns N Roses.

I love the first ok four METALLICA records.

"It's a matter of opinion...."

Love

PRIMUS

Fun Fact: Did you know Les Claypool tried out for Metallica? As they were all impressed with his audition they all told him that he would be better off finding his own niche.

He did!

I've ripped Metallica on here for 12 years but duh! The first three albums are masterofpuppetpieces! LOL!

Didn't I write that last night somewhere?

Broken Record Rushhead.

I will never change.

So you don't like "Kill Em All" then.

Intersting.

I was a little kid when I bought "Kill Em All" on vinyl.

I fell in love.

But I am a music whore so it's all good.

I wish "And Justice For All" had Cliff on it. Or I just wish they turned up Jason's bass.

Damn.

I do adore "And Justice For All."

I have written this on here many times too.

I remember reading a BAM magazine. A Bay Area Music magazine. Do you get it?

BAM!

So anyway I remember getting my free copy with Lars on the cover.

He did an exclusive interview to discuss the Black Album.

I remember reading in the magazine and this is a true quote because it pissed me off.

Lars said about the "Black Album...."

"So when we went back into the studio after And Justice For All we decided to DE-RUSH ourselves and go for something more mainstream."

Well it's not a perfect quote but the "DE-RUSH" thing will never leave my brain.

Perhaps a reason why I hate METALLICA now.

I loved them.

Hell, I loved DREAM THEATER.

They are DISNEYLAND SHITE NOW!

Things change.

So do people.

So be it......

"For Whom The Bell Tolls....."

Just give me "Losing It" instead.

I didn’t say I don’t like Kill ‘Em All. Earlier, I said I love 2 of their albums and like 3.

The 2 I love: Puppets (gold medal), Lightning (silver)

The 3 I like: Justice (the bronze), Kill (4th place), Black album (5th)

Don’t care about: Load, Death Magnetic

Dislike: Re-Load, St. Anger

Haven’t heard their last album.

You lucky bastard! No wonder I love you! METALLICA USED TO RULE!

Saw Metallica just twice (in 2013 and 2006) at that same summer festival.

The 2013 festival had more bands I was interested in:

((I went both days of the festival))

http://www.summersonic.com/2013/lineup/osaka.html

But the 2006 festival was the one when they played all of Master of Puppets:

((Just went on the day Metallica played; wasn’t really interested in many other bands but I’m glad I went because of the Puppets surprise treat - it was MoP’s 20th anniversary soooo they played it all))

http://www.summersonic.com/06/

And here’s that 2006 gig’s setlist:

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/metallica/2006/wtc-open-air-stadium-osaka-japan-5bd6dfe0.html

Just ONE song (total) played from Load, ReLoad, and St. Anger! Excellent! That’s fewer than I remembered! :hail:

I plan on going to Tulsa or Wichita show. Can't get tix when they go on sale so I hope there is some available later.

This might be one of those tours where waiting to buy tickets on stubhub as the show gets closer might be the best option. There are a ton of presales and it looks like nothing will be left for anybody once they officially go "on sale to the public" friday morning. There are at least six presales for the show here and I imagine it's the same everywhere else. My brother even signed up for the Metallica fanclub to get tickets for the show with their presale and he couldn't even log in the site was so jammed up. He tried later and the presale for our show was sold out. Not even joining the fanclub helped. The ticket sale system for these big arena/stadium shows has become a complete mess over the last few years.

Good luck getting tickets.

No Western Canada shows :(

And by that I mean BC, Alberta. No way I'm travelling to Saskatoon or Winnipeg

Last summer they did a stadium tour that hit a lot of the bigger markets. Did they play anything in Western Canada last year? If they did then that's probably why there's no dates for you or in the bay area (Earl brought that one up). This tour is hitting a lot of the secondary cities they haven't been to in a long time.

I haven't seen Metallica since the '98 Reload Tour, but then again they've been pretty scarce around KC. I wasn't about to drive 8 hours round trip last year to STL to hear Lars NOT play double-bass. But, I gotta go this time. But WTF??!!! I seriously have to lay down money A FULL YEAR before they come here? Tix go on sale 3/2/18 and they play KC 3/6/19! The chrome plated balls on those f***s.

For those of you that don't get Metallica--particularly their first 4 albums...you are mental midgets.

I've yet to see Metallica but hope to remedy that on this tour, with hope being the key word. As a member of the 2nd tier fan club, I had access to the 2nd pre-sale yesterday (the 1st one was for the long time, hard core, paying fan club members). I logged on about 27 minutes after it started (freaking work getting in the way again) and there were no tickets available and I only wanted 1. So I guess I'll try Friday when the general sale starts. :rage:

I enjoy most of that. Load is the one that's a little up and down for me.
