Worst toy: one of those electronic football games where the guys would just vibrate like they were having seizures. Whoever thought that could pass for a football game should be shot.

Best toy: I had a hot wheels plastic car body molding machine where you stick the plastic in the mold, melt it and out comes a car body. Noxious fumes and heat...yeah sure let the kid play with that.

That and the slot car race tracks. If it had cars, that was my jam.

These guys were the bomb. Real hair, dog tags, authentic snap-closure uniforms with grade-A plastic military boots.

My buddy's older brother had a big collection that we used to play with, but, being poor, I never got my own GI Joe. Later when Mattel's Fighting Furies came out, I got the Whip as a gift from the lady across the street. I was stoked!

The Whip looked like Burt Reynolds!

Slot car race tracks were always cool. We had various versions over the years.

Hot Wheels Sizzlers tracks were cool too. There was a little battery charger that looked like a gas pump. It actually was juicing up your car so that it’d be ready to go.

The 13 most desired toys of the 1970s, year by year

A cool list. 1971: I had forgotten about Weebles (They wobble but they won't fall down). Only a few years later, a genius takes the next logical step...

Over the weekend I uncovered a bunch of old photo albums which brought back a flood of memories .. When I was a kid, I always seemed to have some toy, bicycle or contraption in pics ..

Anyone remember the Colorforms Aliens ?? .. Seems I even took Xodiac outside in the snow

ORFie, JB ???

What else do you remember ??

Wow I had Xodiac! I remember it well but had no idea where it came from. Also had that 3 level service station. And a great GI Joe collection. And hot wheels! Great memories.

HotWheels, of course, came out in 1968, and this was my first. wwPYN9e.jpgA Blue 'Silhouette' show car. UKKtpIZ.jpgThe Batmobile from the 'Batman Vs. Superman' movie, so I still collect certain HotWheels.

6KFESrt.jpgJust got this from my first niece for X-mas!

sRWg4po.jpgMe and my first 'plushie' this is my Panda, which I still have. alittle worse for wear, but still with it's little blanket.

fLSEtFY.jpgMonster Bubble bath 'SOAKY'. I also had the 'Fuzzy Wuzzy' soap that 'grew hair' and had a toy in it when you used the soap up.

1LAyoXx.jpgOne of my first models I built myself from the box. amd after we'd moved from Ypsi to Saline. my first model was by a company in New Jersey called PYRO eqM1gqa.jpgThese models came with substitute Chromed parts, I.e. bumpers etc. Dad bought me a few of these because they were inexpensive at the time, mid '60s.

Toys back then look waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more different then they do now!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they were better!

In the 90s there were retro toys/figures made as homages to the 60s & 70s versions.

But in 2018 I don’t think I’ve seen any toys/figures made as homages to those made in the 90s.

There's been a few things, but they're mostly lame like Tomagotchis and the demon hellspawn known as Furby. I do like the 90s Marvel throwbacks that came out last year though:

That's how Wolverine looked to an eight year old little Stormtron and that's how he should still look, damnit.

80s toys are where it's at for me though. I was a 3.75 G.I. Joe maniac. They had so many vehicles and shit! I used to make stop motion movie masterpieces with them and make my Grandparents watch them. Bless them!

I appreciate a lot of the 70s stuff too. There's so many great monster toys from that era. My favorite now are the Mego style retro figures that NECA started putting out a few years ago. I've got a bunch of these in my room of junk (the packaging is great!):

I always preferred the models made of metal instead of plastic. Just felt more substantial like you were making a real car.

Then I enjoyed crashing them together to see which would hold up. Apparently I had a little destructive streak

OMG, slot cars, and some of the sick things we did with them. Amongst others, the original Classic brand version of Dean Jeffries' Manta Ray, which would wheelstand down the straightaway.

whoa.. I've gotta get those first two figures - Mrs Vorhees and Jason from Pt II

I had no idea these even existed !!!

Maannn...I want those too, but they were a 2015 Comic Con exclusive and can be pricey now. I went to my cousin's house and he had one. I geeked out a bit over it and he was like "oh, that's valuable?" His friend worked for the company and gave him a box of free stuff and that was in there. He's not even a horror guy. DAMN!

The small G.I. Joes from the early 80s were also great because they had the swivel arm thing going on. They were the first figures that did that I think. But even the first line of small G.I Joes that did NOT have the swivel arms were great because of the detail and accessories. I had a lot from both lines. I got Duke for free from some mail-in giveaway.
