Guys!

I am blasting "The Tales Of Mystery And Imagination" at the moment.

Not only is this the most incredible Alan Parsons Project album, it's one of the best albums on the planet. (Well "I Robot" is pretty damn good too)

It's the ultimate prog pop concept album based on the late, great Edgar Allan Poe.

Gee I wonder why you can here some Pink Floyd influence in this record?

Alan Parsons produced "Dark Side Of The Moon."

I am sure all of you know that little tidbit.

Anyway, I have now become addicted to the Alan Parsons Project like a sex addict to a street corner whore.

Quoth the raven forevermore....................................................

Sharks win!!

"And the joke's on you."

Whoops wrong thread. That's a Blue Oyster Cult line.

Did you know that when I was a kid in 1981 I was lucky enough to watch over my neighbor's house when they were gone for the weekend.

This dude had one hell of a vinyl collection and I was like a little kid in a candy store.

Any album cover that looked interesting I would play!

I remember picking up Alan Parsons Project's "Eye In The Sky" and Blue Oyster Cults's "Fire Of Unknown Origin" and blasting them on his killer stereo, hence that was the day I fell in love with these two bands.

Hey, I also fell in love with RUSH that same year!!!!

Now you guys are stuck with me unless I get banned!! laugh.gif

Damn, I love talking ROCK with you guys!!!

Fantastic album! I had it on vinyl when I was about 17. I love that it was narrated by Orson Welles. I think I'll go buy the CD.

Oh, by the way, GR, I recall reading once that you had a copy of the complete Edgar Alan Poe. My Aunt Jackie gave me that book for my 16th birthday. I still have it and must have read it four or five times. I've always meant to tell you that but kept forgetting until now. My all-time favorite is "The Gold Bug". "Never Bet The Devil Your Head", Hop Frog", and "Some Words With a Mummy" are other stand-outs for me.

Hey, I was supposed to be the Alan Parsons Project Freak here! tongue.gif

Anyway, glad you love, it, it's still one of the best albums by APP.

Too bad Eric Wolfson passed away some months ago. He had an incredible voice.

I know about Eric passing away!! It was terrible.

He has a great voice. Dennis DeYoung meets Christopher Cross. ohmy.gif

Still it was smooth as silk.

You know, I wasn't going to share this on the Forum but I might as well.

I bought Eric's solo album from 2003 a few days ago.

It's called "Poe: More Tales Of Mystery And Imagination."

It's like a sequel to this Parsons masterpiece.

It's quite poppy, yet proggy too.

I wouldn't recommend it to you guys but for those of you who are musically adventurous, I suggest you check it out.

It's only like 13 bucks on eBay.

One song is choral with country music in it. Strange shit.

The last song on the record is called "Immortal." The irony is incredible when you hear this song since he has passed away. His vocals on this track will send a chill down your spine. Especially the last 20 seconds of the song.

Amazing voice. Underrated in the Big Scheme Of Musical Things.

I also think "Eye In The Sky" is a frigging masterpiece.

We will all die eventually.

Signed,

"Old And Wise"

Yes, I have it. Quite nice. Angel of the Odd is quite powerful. I would have preferred if he had sung it all by himself, though.

You know, there's also a collection named "The Alan Parsons Project that Never Was" (IIRC), with demos and rejected (by Parsons, who had rejected Eye in the Sky at first) tracks. I still have to track it down but it must be a beautiful showcase of Eric's voice.

I love APP. But I think Eve is my favorite album .

Eve is a great album too. I guess you could call it a concept album, but I think it's more of a themed record myself.

Yes, you're right about that. Just themed. But still my fav. But then again, I like all of them anyway.

So do I. I don't know if I have a favorite myself. Gaudi is really the last one I listen to on a regular basis other than the live albums.

Never got to see them live.

I never did either. Sigh.
