RushFanForever
Well the Fender jazz bass has played a big part of Rush history as well as the Ricks. The Wals and Stienbergers were in the 80s and also played a big role.If he doesn't have them or even mentions them I would be somewhat disappointed but hey this Geddy and a chance to read and look at his collection and his views. There was some interesting guitars he dragged out on R40 This comment makes me think of the 'Beyond The Lighted Stage' documentary where the period from 1984 to 1992 is quickly bypassed in which the Steinberger and Wal bass guitars were part of that era and sound. Yes if there was a fault in the doc it was that lack of coverage of that period. For me that was probably my favourite era of the band.I came on board with the release of Hemispheres and by the eighties I was eagerly waiting for each new release.Perhaps their embarrassed by bad haircuts, pastel coloured jackets that go well with those basses. As Geddy said we didn't have a clue.
ytserush
Book tour?? Sounds like a reasonable possibility Reasonable to us anyway. Maybe. But never underestimate the power of fans. Besides, Geddy is the one Rush member that seems furthest from retirement and relaxing at home. Well I highly doubt Geddy is going to be "relaxing at home" unless he really wants to do that. That said, Geddy ignored the playbook during the hiatus when he went on his CD signing tour (17 years ago next month.) At that time, he said he wanted to find out if the fans were still out there so I guess maybe he'll consider it again when that time comes. Or maybe he'll go on vacation instead.

RUSHHEAD666
I won't be buying it...... I'm with you Fridge. I could be a hypocrite if I see it at Barnes And Noble but I will NOT be ordering this. Get the fuckk out there and play yer bass. Slap it man. "We are only immortal for a limited time." Fuckk a book. Record and tour.
RUSHHEAD666
How is a book a spoiler? I'm fuckking spoiled. I want to see Geddy and Alex play their instruments. A book??? "WOT?" A FLOWER? GENESIS RULES! Steve Hackett still plays an instrument called a guitar. Sir Paul still plays something called a bass. Fukk a book. I don't want to jack off to a book of Geddy's basses. So self indulgent. Play the bass Geddy! FENDER JAZZ!
RUSHHEAD666
A great read? I want to read about a new album and tour. Geddy is a grandpa. Write a boring book about all of your basses and stay at home and play with your grandchildren. Best of both worlds. Some humans are so lucky. You’ll be mentally jacking off in that line and imagining which words you’ll choose to convince him to go on tour.

HemiBeers
It would be cool to have a DVD accompaniment with the book so Geddy could demonstrate and describe how one bass sounds compared to the next. The visualization and history of the different basses is all well and good, but it really comes down to how a gifted musician might choose one instrument over the other for a given song. I think that would differentiate Geddy's book from the other eye candy coffee table instrument books.

Sounds good to me but unfortunately I haven’t read anything about Geddy wanting to do a DVD in regards to this project.

Geddy Jazz
I will get it....no problem...I know Geddy ( nor Alex) is not the one to blame for not having Rush anymore....I am very interested on everything Mr. Lee comes out with. :geddy:

New Digital Man
The problem I have is that the majority of these basses in Geddys collection have nothing to do with Rush, he had little interest in them over the 40 years the band were together yet some of the ones that were a big part of the bands history seem to have been excluded, i'm fairly certain he hasn't been to see Paul Herman at Wal HQ in the UK which is a shame! ctbadger
So let me get this right, we are invited to pay good money for a book showing pictures of Geddys relatively new collection of basses, most of which are an assortment of vintage Fender Jazz basses, that have little to do with Rush and were used only for the last tour, with a distinct possibility that some of the instruments that featured heavily in the bands career like the Steinberger and Wals probably being emitted as they've been airbrushed from Rush history it seems? Hmm, think i'll probably save my money and take a browse round the Central London music shops and see vintage guitars for free! According to this article the book will only go up to 1972: https://www.packinghousecreative.com/blog/2017/10/31/a-visit-from-geddy-lee "It's called Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book Of Bass, and will be published next year. His co-author on the project is Daniel Richler. They are putting together a story about how the electric bass was developed, in the time period up to 1972."

I have my pre-order on Amazon, nothing on RushBackstage as of yet ... Hoping for a book signing tour! Would be a great opportunity to get my Basses all signed :-)
