Camera eye was the last over 10 minute rush song and is a favorite of mine, especially to play. But music box is a classic. So from a prog rock perspective box wind.

Absolutely! The last Rush tune over "Force Ten" Minutes! LOL!

URT!

Welcome to the Rush Forum!

I am amazed by your picture. Love the double neck! I want to check out your band!

If you ever need a drummer I'm available. :)

RUSH ON!

I love your post!!!

Given that I think the Camera Eye did not need almost 11 minutes to get its point across (Signals performances made the most sense), The Musical Box wins this for me.

Hey guys! I know "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend" but I am flattered and honored that both you 78 and URT responded to my thread.

I seriously do try to be creative on here after 12 years.

Not sure how people on here put up with me but I am a happy camper.

You are both refreshing!

RUSH FOREVER!

GENESIS TOO!!

Listening to "Fifth Of Firth" right now.

My God, it never gets old.

Like Mercury Records Rush Music. LOL!

Cheers!

Lol easily The Musical Box

The Camera Eye obviously great historical Rush but not their absolute finest moment i think, always found slightly monotone for something that long but still love it of course

The Musical Box is just perfect, classical, Gabriel-era Genesis

If you'd ignored length and compared with, say, Red Barchetta, i would have had a bit of a problem

This is a good one. I truly never understood the love TCE gets when there are much better Rush epics.

I think this song made more sense as it was performed on the Signals tour.

The Musical Box has 3.5 minutes of harpsicordial faux Renaissance nonsense before it gets going. I'll take the mood-setting intro of Camera Eye over that. Edited by goose

TCE always felt like it was 2-3 minutes longer than it needed to be...lots of redundancy. In addition, the guys treated it like a red-headed stepchild by not playing it for many years until the fanbase griped about it. TMB is more cohesive, beginning to end, with more dynamics.

So TMB on this one.

Just for the finale and the amazing guitar work, Musical Box gets is. TCE has grown on me, but it's still more repetitive than it should be.

I'm still on a high from seeing the band The Musical Box ( with The Cat 3 ) perform The Musical Box... and more.

You know where my vote goes.

:goodone: Agreed!

Here's a comparison to Genesis in 1973. Peter's voice is sooooo good.

I am huge Genesis fan, but I always found The Musical Box to just be a "good" song, as opposed to notable or special.

The Camera Eye is not one of my favorite Rush tracks, but I like it more than the Genesis tune.

Both bands have dozens and dozens of better songs.

Sorry Earl. Genesis fronted by Gabriel never released a song that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as anything on MP.

Wow! What a bold statement! I'm in shock!!!!

"Supper's Ready" is better than anything on MP!!

My inner fanboi cannot compute....

I love suppers ready right after i smoke some giant hogweed!
