Any experience with YouTube TV streaming service?

I'm wondering if anyone has tried the YouTube TV streaming service, or heard anything about it. After a lot of research, this seems like the best streaming service to replace our cable. In the Harrisburg area it would provide every major network (except the CW) and the additional ones we watch except for Discovery Channel branded shows. It doesn't work through Amazon devices, we are having to borrow my sister's Roku for the free trial but I'm just curious. Thanks!

And I have another question, I don't know if it falls into conspiracy theory area or not ??  You have to use a Google account to sign up with Youtube tv. I do have gmail but it's a backup account, I never use it because I believe Google spies on you. So if I sign up for Youtube TV do you think Google collects information about what we watch?

We're probably ready to be known as sports fan/Nat Geo/news channel watchers just to get away from the Comcast bill but I'm just wondering.

"Think"? No. I'm certain of it. Here's a pretty good piece on how they use it:

Thanks for the article! I kind of knew part of it; it's why I don't ever use my Gmail or Chrome for a browser and have done the opt outs I can do. Everyone has their price, though,  ours is getting rid of Comcast. My parents visit and can't believe how many channels we get but it costs a lot even for basic and we only watch like 3 or 4 channels!

My friend has Youtube TV and absolutely loves it. He's a bit of a tech geek as well, so I trust his opinion. He let me check out the app and all the features, explained how it works, talked about the channel selection, the unlimited dvr cloud based storage, ect. It looks like a winner to me! And more and more channels are being added all the time.

If you sign up before Mar 1 I believe the price is locked in at $35/month. After that it's $40/mo.

Thanks launchpad! We started the five day free trial yesterday and are loving it! Great picture, as good as our hd cable, and no freezing or buffering. Glad to hear that someone who has had it longer stands by it.

I had cut the cord about a year ago, but when we recently moved the bride wanted to get cable tv again. A Spectrum rep gave us a "great deal", getting net and cable tv for only $99/month.

The bill is $120. :eh:

Probably cutting the cord again.

Well, we did end up cutting the cable! We returned all of the cable stuff to Comcast today. They charge an arm and a leg for internet if you are not bundling it with TV but it still is saving us money (and we have no other internet where we live.). We ended up with 2 streaming services- You Tube TV, and Philo TV. I really like them both! YouTube TV has 57 channels in our area including all the local channels. No HGTV or Food Network or History though.

Philo TV is kind of interesting. It is TV for people that want lifestyle channels; not sports or news. It is only $16.00/month and fills the holes in YouTube TV. (It does have HGTV, Food Network, History!). Have to watch Forged in Fire somehow!

Even with the two together and internet it still costs less than our Comcast bundle. I emailed the leeches kids on our HBO GO account to tell them we were done and 2 out of 3 told me it stopped working a year ago. The third said, "Oh, I changed the password a year ago, I got hacked." :eh:

I tried YouTube TV and liked it very much. Great interface and guide. You can also have 6 streams (users) on one account. The DVR function is pretty good to. I’ve been investigating cutting the cord also. I think I’m going to go with DirecTV Now. It has over 60 channels and if you have an AT&T unlimited phone plan, it only costs $20.00 month and includes HBO. They are also releasing a DVR function soon (it’s in beta now). They also have apps for all the streaming boxes. I get about 35 OTR channels so I’m goin to also get a Tablo box to distribute those channels around the house and provide DVR functionality. I’ll be going from about $130.00 a month for Dish to $20.00 a month. Pretty good savings.

Wow, that's great that you get so many channels with an antenna! We got one also and because of all the hills around here we just get eight. I'll have to keep an eye on DirectTV now. My husband really liked the DVR with YTTV so we went with that for now.
