Eyes Wide Shut is way up there for me. Love it. I don't think he ever made a bad film.

Not that I've seen anyway.

I'd give everything on that list between a B+ to A+ except for The Killing and Killer's Kiss which I haven't seen.

The Killing is a solid noirish-heist film. Terrific cast. Killer's Kiss is probably his 'worst' (excluding Fear And Desire) work but it's still good and you can see Kubrick's hand is all over the visual aspect of the movie.

Ah ok. Will check if I come across it.

Even Fear & Desire I liked. It just seemed like an episode of Twilight Zone (good!). Fear & Desire is akin to Rush's debut. Not the greatest Kubrick but yeah it's still Kubrick and all that. :hail:

I have a very hard time with this.

Kubrick is my second favorite director under John Carpenter of course.

The fact that King hates Kubrick's vision of "The Shining" makes me happy. King is a moron.

I am so torn.

Ok so I have to go with "A Clockwork Orange!"

I'll take "A Clockwork Orange". All the other movies on the list are just weird :)

Right right, there's nothing weird about our "humble narrator" drinking drugged milk and killing an old cat lady with a giant statue of a penis

"A Clockwork Orange" is a better book than "The Shining" too.

I was a English Major in college. I was so fuckking bored reading shite for college.

So I picked up Anthony's masterpiece "A Clockwork Orange." I loved how he came up with his own language. I think he took English and Russian and mixed it up.

But I loved learning thanks to the glossary in the back of the book.

"Kroovy" meant blood I think. "Cutter" meant money"

It's been years and I'm too lazy to look this shit up.

I have no filter now.

I am either going to get in trouble or just ignored for typing this.

I actually have a dvd porno entitled "A Clockwork Orgy," The plot was dead on and the sex scenes were hot and spot on.

Great memories with the ex wife.

Amazing times.

No regrets.

You're talking about Nadsat "language". It's not as simple as mixing English and Russian. It's more like a combo of Russian, altered Slavic, slang, and Burgess' own imagination.

Great book, great movie.

Tough one .. Kubrick didn't just make great films, he made all time great films

I can't think of another director who made so many consistent, all time great films.

He wasn't prolific compared to other directors with decades long careers but what he made was just unbeatable IMHO.

I can't vote. Damn I am showing a pattern on here lately.

"The Shining" and "A Clockwork Orange" are tied!

I actually have an autographed "A Clockwork Orange" book by Anthony.

I was obsessed with this book too when I was in college. I loved having to go to the back of the book and study the glossary to understand the words.

Pure genius. Mixing English and Russian slang. I think.

Incredible book too.

Full Metal Jacket. My favorite war movie and f*ck you if you say it's not a war movie.

Has someone said it isn’t?

I've had peers say, 'Well, it's not really a war movie because half of the movie is the characters just training'....Yeah, for A F@CKING WAR! And people have commented about the lack of large scale combat--they totally missed the point; its an up close and personal narrative about how f***ed up, ironic and contradictory war can be. How much of a war movie can you get? The whole movie is so ripe with social and political commentary and you put in the humor, holy hell is this a great Vietnam War movie.

Those peers of yours are idiots!

Full Metal Jacket is an A+ grade WAR movie!

I like it more than Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, and nearly every other war movie out there!
