I bought the first album when it came out because of the cover. I was shocked at the greatness of the music to be honest. The totality of the music was the draw and not any one individual...

That’s how I feel. The music is why I’m a fan. “Jamie’s Cryin” was the first song WMMS started playing and I really liked the song. I convinced a friend to buy the 8-track based on that one song. As you can imagine, I went to the record store the very next day and bought the cassette for myself.

ME WISE MAGIC!

Great music on this comeback track...I would have liked to hear it with Sammy, to be honest. Dave's voice was pretty spent...even in 1995-96.

I actually like Dave on this. I don't think it's so much that he was "spent" as much as he had no range. NOW he's spent, sad to say. The live album is cringeworthy at times. Sammy sounds great on his The Circle live album, though.

Bring back Cherone. :)

My dad was a fan. I’m a lifelong SoCal resident and the California sound and vibe is just something that naturally does it for me especially with those background vocals by Anthony. Jump came out when I was 3 so it was my introduction. Lot of great childhood nostalgia.

Just so happens that during their early pre record label days, they played a gig in my birth residence of Rowland Heights.

Reading a biography about Van Halen and it's pretty clear Eddie is what the musicians came to see and DLR is what other fans and many of the women came to see. It's also clear the Michael Anthony was an underrated member of the band and got the screwins so they could bring in Wolfgang. No way to put it but a total dick move by the rest of the band.

Ditto! Only difference is Jamie’s Cryin’ was popular so I bought the album for that song. I was shocked that the entire album was so good!

Easily 1 of the best debut albums a rock band has released. I'd put it neck and neck with Boston for best debut album by a rock band.

Those two would certainly be in my top 5 debut albums of all time. Living Colour's debut is my favorite though. Boston and VH could be #2 and #3 respectively.

Finished the Van Halen biography written by their former, long time manager, and just let me say, Alex Van Halen is an A, #1 asshole. He was the primary reason Michael Anthony was fired as well as their manager.

He's a prick indeed and I think is an excellent drummer. His work on "Hot For Teacher" is amazing but yep! DICK!

If Eddie, Alex and Michael were to tour as Van Halen with Mike on vocals I would go in a heartbeat. But sadly now that I know Alex and Mike hate each other fukk it.

Maybe not... (from 2016)

MICHAEL ANTHONY Says He Spoke To ALEX VAN HALEN For First Time In More Than A Decade

Great article goose.

I love how Michael talks good about Dave.

I would shit if the original four did one final tour. Hell everyone else from the 60's and 70's is doing it. Why not one last cash grab?

If original Van Halen tours again they will be like Rush to me.

I will go see as many shows as I can.

I know know Dave's voice is shot. I don't care.

I saw Rush and Van Halen in 1984.

Wow.

I saw Rush at the LA Forum. DONE

Hoping to see real Van Halen again.

Signed,

"Everybody Wants Some" How about you?

Lots of real Van Halen Haters on here.

Sam Halen? VOMIT

I’m surprised you don’t care about Roth’s current voice. Why would you want to see a bad performance? ...because that’s what it’d be if you caught him live these days.

Whatever performance I saw on tv of Roth with VH a few years ago, it was embarrassing. I was embarassed FOR him!

I'd like to see one last Dave & Sammy combined VH tour. That would be cool.

Eddie has a significant influence on me. I almost bought a Marshall and modded my Strat to be like his Frankenstrat but I never got around to those two even though I don't honestly need Eddie's gear to play Van Halen. Currently, I'm attempting to teach myself the Beat It solo so good luck to myself on that.

You guys are all correct.

VAN HALEN

BOSTON

VIViD

Might even have to throw in Pearl Jam's "Ten."

"MONTROSE"

"APPETITE"

Black Sabbath - s/t

Stone Temple Pilots - Core

The Doors - s/t

All "arguably" the band's best work. Sabbath's debut isn't their best album to me, but to a lot of people it is.
