Seems like many TRFers often have mentioned that their least liked Rush albums are in this bunch.

Still, other TRFers have mentioned that their favorites are in this same bunch.

So how about it?

Discuss.

*Oh, I’m only including Rush’s original material in this poll so Feedback is sitting this one out. I do like Feedback but it’s nothing more than a side piece for me; Rush with an asterisk next to it.

best: CA material-wise, except for the overly hot production. worst: hold your nose. none of these are 10s..most are maybe half ok, decent songs and half filler and bad experiments.

I’m kind of expecting the most “best” votes for HYF, Counterparts, and CA.

For the most “worst” votes, I think that could be anything but those three.

HYF is easily the worst. CA is easily the best. None of them are 10s.

For me, T4E is easily at the bottom, in spite of perhaps the best production. The songs, almost across the board, are completely uninteresting to me (exceptions being Time and Motion, Title Track and, oddly, Dog Years, in that order). So, T4E :boo hiss:

Picking the best was a matter of choosing the album I most enjoy listening to start to finish, which turned out to be Presto. All the others have songs that I just don't enjoy, or, in the case of Vapor Trails (which i think is the best composed album of the lot in terms of a cohesive collection of songwriting and lyrics), is a draining listening experience.

:musicnote: Sundogs fire, on the horizon... :musicnote:

i was skiing a couple of weeks ago with TRF's workingcinderellaman when, getting off the lift at the top, I glanced up to see just that, a sundog glowing above a peak. I smiled.

Best: CA

Worst: RTB

Perfect 10: CA comes closest, and I do love it a lot, so I'll go ahead and give it a vote. Nothing else here really deserves it, though the quality of HYF or Presto vastly exceeds that of RTB or CP.

CA is the best. I just wish I could listen to it with headphones...major bummer. Otherwise it would be closest to a 10.

Presto and CP are next best.

RTB would be the worst. How could they write a classic like Dreamline and not be more consistently good on one album?

I voted Clockwork as my favorite, but the original mix Vapor Trails is right there with Clockwork Angels ..

It was hard for me not to vote Roll The Bones as the worst of the lot, but just when I was about to vote for it, Presto appears like a sick rabbit falling out of someone's ass

PRESTO !!

HYF is easily the best of this bunch, the last "great" Rush album imo (though the rot had started to set in with the lat two tracks)

After this, it becomes increasingly less relevant as there is plenty of stinkworthy material on offer..I suppose I'd have to plump for Counterparts simply for the utterly cringe-inducing Nobody's Hero, but there's a plethora of puke to choose from...Notable exceptions are Presto (which is half a good album) and T4E (which was a partial return to form).

Sadly no perfect 10s here.

I’d like to give VT a perfect 10 but would have to cut at least two songs to do that, so...not a perfect album sadly. Although one lurks in there, yessir.

After some hardcore exercising, dieting, and fat trimming, this is my “B+” Vapor Trails album:

One Little Victory

Ceiling Unlimited

Ghost Rider

Peaceable Kingdom

Vapor Trail

Secret Touch

Earthshine

Within that, I’d say there’s an “A” EP.

P.S. I eagerly await some wise guy TRFer to post “This is my perfect Vapor Trails album” followed by the track listing off Clockwork Angels :P

Angels for me, one of my top 5 with Spheres, Waves, Pictures and Windows.

Caravan, Angels, Anarchist, Gold, Wreckers, Flight, Garden. 7 tracks that are still on regulator rotation for me 5 years on.

I really enjoyed this album and the boys were very energetic performing it live. Great stuff.

I don't just hand out tens, if any album ever has a track that I don't really love, the album can't get a perfect ten from me. Some of these are among my favorite Rush albums, but not one is a ten. There are a lot of tracks that get tens though, throughout.

CA was the way to exit, so kudos to Rush on a stellar career and an unusually stellar final note.

Best, CA, gets a 10...the only one, though I'll give VT a 9

Worst: Neil's Little Book of Sermons, though in a different day it could be the Tin album

Best: Presto

Worst: Roll the Bones

Presto is probably a 9 for me, because Presto, Anagram, and Hand Over Fist aren't as good as the other tracks.

RTB is worst because all of the other albums have at least two 10/10 songs, while only Ghost of a Chance is a 10 for me from RTB.
