The Analog Kid

New World Man

The Weapon

Countdown

Chemistry

I love Chemistry btw. Countdown just edges it out for being so cinematic.

This is the last Rush album that I bought as a teen and ended my interest in Rush until Vapor Trails/Rush in Rio. Did not like the keyboard focus or the sound of the album. The soundstage seemed muted and dull after the brilliance of PeW and MP.

And the overt Police influences/references seemed a little over the top.

Cannot rank as they're all about the same to my stunted ear, but Losing It and Countdown would be at the bottom. Not sure of what would be at the top. The Weapon, maybe, just for the guitar and drum patterns - although Geddy's bass in Digital Man really elevates the track (despite NP's pseudo-Copeland drumming). Too bad he doesn't play it during the chorus (just synth bass if I recall correctly).

Some good songs marred by dreary production making the whole thing sound like it takes place in a thick fog

The brightness of GUP was a welcome recovery, IMO.

This was their last truly great album until Clockwork Angels.

Nope.

Grace Under Pressure, Hold Your Fire, Roll The Bones, Vapor Trails and Snakes And Arrows are all much better than Signals or Clockwork Angels.

Nope. None of those albums are. Several of them aren’t particularly good for that matter.
