The 2017-18 NFL thread

For those who closely follow the NFL Draft, several mock drafts have been posting inaccurate drafting orders.

The 49ers and Raiders (6-10) have no tie-breakers, so they are using a coin flip to determine who picks 9th and who picks 10th. They will then alternate those two picks each round.

The Bengals, Redskins and Packers (7-9) are NOT using a coin flip, so they will not be rotating picks 12, 13, and 14.

The Ravens, Chargers, Seahawks, Cowboys and Lions (9-7) are not using a coin flip, so they will not be rotating picks 16-20. Some mock drafts are incorrectly showing all five teams rotating their picks.

The draft order is fixed for all teams except the 49ers and Raiders.

1 Cleveland Browns................0–16 .520

2 New York Giants..................3–13 .531

3 Indianapolis Colts ................4–12 .480

4 Cleveland Browns ................4–12 .516

5 Denver Broncos ...................5–11 .492

6 New York Jets ......................5–11 .520

7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers .......5–11 .555

8 Chicago Bears .....................5–11 .559

9 /10 Oakland Raiders ............6–10 .512

9 /10 San Francisco 49ers ......6–10 .512

11 Miami Dolphins ...................6–10 .543

12 Cincinnati Bengals ..............7–9 .465

13 Washington Redskins .........7–9 .539

14 Green Bay Packers .............7–9 .539

15 Arizona Cardinals ................8–8 .488

16 Baltimore Ravens ................9–7 .441

17 Los Angeles Chargers .........9–7 .457

18 Seattle Seahawks ................9–7 .492

19 Dallas Cowboys ...................9–7 .496

20 Detroit Lions .........................9–7 .496

We lost three draft slots because we just had to win that meaningless game against the Eagle. My poor dumb Cowboys.

A great many Packer fans were yelling TANK! for the last 6 weeks of the season. I guess we're tired of picking 28th on average.....

Wow. The Browns improved their record from #1 to #4. Impressive. (Common Core math?) :P

Whoops! Forgot to mention the trade associated with the #4 pick.

Mr. blues, a big Philly fan, is getting happier by the minute! That said, I'm just as glad my daughter no longer lives there- no cheese steak stand is safe tonight! ;)

There were very few problems despite the city being jammed with people. That never of course gets reported. :)

A friend of mine went to the Super Bowl in 2005. He tells a story of walking with his son, who was probably about 10, to the game when a bunch of "gentlemen" in Eagles jerseys passed them in the opposite direction, but took the time to scream in the kid's face, "F*ck the Patriots!" or something very close to that. I'm sure there are plenty of Patriots' fans who are jerks too, but you do seem to hear a lot of these stories about Eagles' fans.

A lot of Eagles fans are obnoxious numbnuts, but its gets reported more because the press (much of it NY based for eons) loves to trash Philadelphia. I cant speak for every city, but Boston and New York can definitely shut the f-ck up about nasty fans, I've encountered them there too. One common denominator is booze. The press tried to fly out some stupid thing about arrests and it turned out to be fake news too.

So basically, f-ck all of you. lol.

Few Packer fans go to Chicago (and vice-versa). Bengal fans and Steeler fans embrace their mutual hatred.

I did survive a trip to the Metrodome back in 2006. I was expecting beer in my face (the Packers won), but escaped unharmed.... :sundog:

That's because you stay on the ground and fight :)

That greasing the pole thing is hilarious in so many ways I cant count. The only thing people like more than someone climbing up a pole, is knocking them off w a beer can or bottle.

Know what the news didn't show?

There were tens of thousands of people out in the street. The Eagles have not won a championship since before there was a Super Bowl, 1960. And yet, with a few brushes w championships, and a lot of mediocre football in between, theres a waiting list for season tickets and the town loves the team. After they beat the Vikings the streets were full of people all over the city, in one spot hundreds of people were dancing to hip hop music, and in many videos you could see the cops watching, but not doing anythign and even joining in with their horns. That, again, gets no press. So in the end the good news is, most people like me are embarassed by the edgy knuckleheads who do the wrong thing, but enjoy the camaraderie of being the Charlie Brown and the Pats being the goddamned Lucy.

Like the lottery I have one more week to dream.

I honestly, given all factors, give us one chance in three.

QB Alex Smith is going to Washington in Big Trade. (per Ian Rapoport)

Won't be made official until March, but Ian always has great sources. Pretty surprised by this, why would you give up an elite QB like Smith? The Chiefs need to get rid of Andy Reid and Bill Sutton more than their QB. Considering they already lost their OC to Chicago, who had great play calling in the last four weeks of the regular season, you might want to clean house now. Unless they're getting Kirk Cousins in return, which I doubt, this is a BAD move. But it does save them, what, 18 million in salary cap?

Smith's deal is reported to be 4 years, 23.5 million per year on average. 70 million is guaranteed. :o :o

They are going to elevate Mahomes (sp?). A first round pick. If Mahomes works out then it's a hell of a deal for the Chiefs. They'll dump the last year of Smith's salary, get an elite corner back and a third round pick. Mahomes must pan out though. I don't understand the Redskins side of the trade. It looks foolish to me. The concensus is that KC is indeed going with Mahomes all the way.

All we need to know about the Redskins is this: Dan Snyder.

Snyder wishes he was half the business man that Al Davis was. Jerry is on another level.

This trade makes no sense to me. It just seems like Washington is pretty much putting the gun to their head and pulling the trigger. They could have resolved this issue if they just gave Cousins the long term contract he was looking for. So, instead of giving your young 29 year old QB that has proven himself as a great player (with a healthy line and receivers, that is) for a 34 year old that might not make the full 4 years. I'm not convinced that Smith will last that long. Comparing him to Cousins, I'd pick Cousins.

All I know is that Cousins' agent better be shopping that free agency market hard. Look to Jacksonville, especially. They could use someone to replace Bortles.

Does Brady come back, or does Giselle make him call it a career?

He'll be back. The fierce competitor in him won't stand for ending his career like that.

Given his level of play - dont know why he'd retire...

The hold out rumor is interesting, but I don’t buy it for a minute.

I heard Gronk saying something about quitting after the game. Post loss stress syndrome? I don't buy that one, either.

I don't either. Both players are far far far too good to walk away.
