The 2018 QB Draft Class

Bronco fan here, and barring the acquisition of Kirk Cousins, the Broncos will definitely be looking to fill the need at QB with the 5th pick in the upcoming 2018 draft ..

- Baker Mayfield

- Josh Allen

- Sam Darnold

- Lamar Jackson

- Josh Rosen

- Mason Rudolph

Truth be told, I hope Cousins signs elsewhere .. With Von Miller's contract, the Broncos would be taking a huge risk signing a IMHO mediocre QB at 25+++ mil per year ..

Paxton Lynch a few years back was a mistake, and while it has become increasingly difficult to gauge how a college QB's skills will translate to the NFL, I think that there are some standout QB in the 2018 draft ..

Who do you like ?? .. Who is overrated ?? ... Who are some of the guys flying under the radar ??

you're a jersey guy but a bronco fan? wtf?

anyway, all the viking QBs are free agents with experience, so that's a possibility. If Cleveland has half a brain cell, they'll try to snag a long-term vet QB to solve their never ending search. they have more cap space than jesus and god put together.

I think Darnold, Allen, and Rosen have "franchise QB" qualities, but as they get more and more picked apart, the flaws will get harped on. None are A.Luck. All of them plus Mayfield look to be gone by top 10-15. From what I've seen, I favor Darnold a slight bit.

Cousins rumors heating up here in Minnesota. We have 3 Cousins types here already. Hope the Vikes don't get all starry eyed and break the bank.

I say Denver should pass and go for Darnold/Allen.

I admit that I am intrigued by Mayfield, as he is the compltete opposite to what we suffer thru with Siemian and brifely, Lynch ..

Not sure how Jackson's game will translate, but when Kubiak was the OC in Baltimore, he had Tyrod Taylor and appareantly loved him as the Broncos tried to get him after Manning retired ..

Of the top guys, I don;t see it in Rosen

I don't know the salary cap situation for the Broncos. I think Cousins would be the way to go if he can fit under the cap. The defense is in place.

If Cousins comes aboard, Talib is definitely gone ( which he may be anyway ) ... either way, the Broncos defense is going to take a step back when Talib leaves - he is as important to that defense as Von Miller ... Bradley Roby is a great 3rd CB, but I don;t think he can handle starting across from Chris Harris ..

But if Cousins is signed, Josh Jackson could be an option at pick #5

Back in the mid 70s, Sunoco gas startions here in NJ had an NFL sticker book - and with every full tank, you'd get a sheet of stickers of NFL players ... The Broncos' players proved to be elusive, but when I finally was able to get some, I loved the helmets - plus the fact that it was a thrill to finally get 'em ...

Around the same time, Sports Illustarted would come to the house, and I remember one pic of Haven Moses w/ a huge 'fro - I cut that pic out and hung it on my wall ..

So I've been a fan here on an island since then !!!

I keep hearing a lack of love for Baker Mayfield because of an over rated style of playing that won't work in the NFL.

I can definitely see that pjbear

Some will point to Russell Wilson, and the similar stature and attributes, but by all accounts, Wilson is a very very smart guy - and in hearing him speak, I've got no reason to doubt that ..

This is where the GMs must do the homework .. Is Mayfield an NFL QB from the shoulders up ?? .. Is he a bright guy and would he be able to roll his sleeves up and study the NFL game - his chutzpah and fire will only carry him so far on the field ..

Ex-Bronco HC Mike Shanahan did not go to the combine, and for the most part, did not speak with or interview players prior to drafting them - this, to me, is insane, and was part of the downfall of the organization after Elway retired ..

The one thing I like about Mayfield is that his character fits with the Bronco team - a team with a tough and intimidating defense - the offense needs an identity and an attitude that will compliment the D

One of my go-to's leading up to the draft podcast wise. I know we get an overload of Mel and Todd fluff pieces on tv, but I like their deeper digging. It's never too early...the 1-23 episode is all QB talk.

He obviously still has the testing, etc. leading up to the draft, but he's already often mocked going mid 1st. Lamar Jackson and his polarization intrigues me even more.

I'm glad he's going to the Lions if for no other reason than we won't have to see his stupid superstitious backwards hat, pencil behind the right ear, and red coat/vest as much, except maybe on the Thanksgiving game. I wonder if he knows the backwards baseball cap is the new mullet?

Actually, probably not. I have Sunday Ticket so I mostly watch red zone and the Dolphins with emphasis in the 3 o'clock window any national game of significance. He's a journeyman/caretaker/game manager type who will usually have one bad lapse per game (like in the playoffs vs the Saints where he threw a pick that let the Saints back in the game.

I don't think he's any better than Simean (sp); he's not going to make a bad offense respectable or an otherwise average one great. I'd much much rather have one of the guys with upside than a low ceiling guy like Keenum.

Having said that, while Josh Rosen is far superior in arm talent, he seems like a cross between Johnny Football and Jeff George in terms of being a team guy; I would never draft that guy...I'd rather have Keenum if those were the options.

You poor confused child. From what I understand, Keenum really came into his own this year and probably will be one of those late bloomer quarterbacks. I have a hunch that Denver has found their man.

We shall see. There's a non zero probability of that. He's probably better than Siemian. And I wasn't really excited when we signed Fiedler either and we saw how well that turned out... ;)

Of the top guys, I don;t see it in Rosen

So, what do you think of the Keenum signing?

*ducks and covers*

What do you think? You obviously have watched him a lot more than I have.

Actually, probably not. I have Sunday Ticket so I mostly watch red zone and the Dolphins with emphasis in the 3 o'clock wine on any national game of significance.

You live in Minnesota and didn't watch every play from your QB?

I'm not a Viking fan.

Are you from Minnesota?

No I grew up in NW Indiana near Chicago. Moved here for work 13 years ago. Have been a Dolphin fan since the late 60s.

You poor confused child. From what I understand, Keenum really came into his own this year and probably will be one of those late bloomer quarterbacks. I have a hunch that Denver has found their man.

We shall see. There's a non zero probability of that. He's probably better than Siemian. And I wasn't really excited when we signed Fiedler either and we saw how well that turned out... ;)

Well, you have another bad signing with your current QB.
