Honestly, how could this be anything but incredible anymore?

This fuckking album is already a molten masterpiece before it's release.

"FIREPOWER" will scare the Devil back to Heaven.

Aye to all that!

HELL BENT HELL BENT FOR LEATHER!

Earl Richie Faulkner said there might be an unexpected song in the Firepower setlist. Any ideas what it could be? And what unexpected song would you like?

Trying to think of songs they haven't done in a long time or at all:

Tyrant

Ram It Down

Stained Class (Halford has done this solo so there's a good chance)

One Shot At Glory

Fever

What about White Heat, Red Hot? And Run of the Mill? Running Wild? Saints in Hell?

I'll just slip this into the thread, some people have already seen this but I thought I might as well post it:

I've compiled all the info we have so far on the Firepower songs. I've gone track by track with the info:

1. Firepower - "A kick ass statement!" "It's gonna send a message we feel that this is some intense shit!"

2. Lightning Strike - This is the one song we've heard so far.

3. Evil Never Dies - "Actually, my favourite is “Evil Never Dies”.I love the way that it goes! It starts off as mid-tempo, pretty strong, and by the end it’s such a crescendo. Such an intense ending! You just sit back and …the riff… It’s such an intense ending. It grows into that ending with different qualities, with different things that are special about them." Richie's fave and one of Scott Travis' favourites

4. Never the Heroes 'Never The Heroes', I think, is a great, meaningful song in the sense just lyrically, even though I had nothing to do with the lyrics, but it's a great song [with] a great hook. Another Scott Travis favourite.

5. Necromancer In my opinion, the best track of the “Firepower” is the “Necromancer” because it’s the most evil and dark song. Do you have any favourites and why- if you have any special?

“Necromancer”, you’re right, is a dark song, it’s a simple song, it’s a heavy song

6. Children of the Sun [no info on this yet]

7. Guardians "a beautiful intro, a musical instrumental almost like classic Queen, has this piano then these almost Brian May-esque guitars come in, great, great stuff."

8. Rising from Ruins "Rob hasn't sung like this for decades, clean sing-song vibe to his singing." A favourite of Scott and Ian. Ian calls it one of the "big production pieces."

9. Flame Thrower [no info on this yet]

10. Spectre [no info on this yet but we've heard that great clip]

11. Traitors Gate Another of the big production pieces according to Ian

12. No Surrender [No info on this yet]

13. Lone Wolf A favourite of Ian and Scott, "The heaviest song Priest have ever done"

14. Sea of Red "a softer side to part of it" Another song where Halford is singing like he hasn't in decades.

"So beautiful and powerful, "incredibly powerful vocals on this song" "a magical moment that closes out the record"

I would shell out to see Priest play anything from Stained Class. Criminally overlooked.

Beyond The Realms Of Death is a set regular but nothing else from that album has been in the set for a long time if ever. Exciter was last done on the Angel Of Retribution tour but that's pretty much it for the album. I wonder if Halford has a hard time singing a lot of the 70s material so they just avoid it.

At least they know what the best song is, lol.

Halford used a high vocal register for a lot of that album, so that could be part of the reason.

Here he is singing White Heat, Red Hot a few years ago with Halford:

Okay, I'm gonna say it. Better than Lightning Strike. They're thrashing harder than Metallica does anymore (not a huge compliment except Priest aren't exactly known for thrashing). Also, that guitar solo...woah.

I'm listening to it now. I got it emailed to me from the Pledge guys!

Sweet...

...eagerly awaiting your review!

Not the whole album just Firepower the song!

I think it's great! First observation is Halford sounds powerful and the second is the first guitar solo is really melodic and thematic. I wonder if that's Richie or Glenn?

Lacuna Coil had a cassette of their last album too. I think it's a thing for collectors now!

I've got a cassette player a Technics double decker, I'd just get it as a souvenir though.

I want to really get into Priest. Give me the best metal albums they have done. I wasn't keen on British Steel but loved Sad Wings Of Destiny. The only two I tried, although I did play Rocka Rolla once.
