I'm so excited Pat I might extend my pole tonight! Dole pineapple? Poll?

Telephone Pole Tree is my new band.

Dude!

I love Kansas.

But I'm in love with BOC!

CAREER OF EVIL!!!

BLUE OYSTER CULT RULES!

I feel sorry for humans who just don't get it.

Move on.

Suck my "CultÖsarus Erectus!"

Oh...

And lick my Soft White Underbelly as well!

I've got KANSAS all the way. I like BOC, especially Secret Treaties and Fire of Unknown Origin but with Kansas I like many more albums, most of them. The only weak ones are the later ones which can be said of most bands.

NO WAY!

The BOC catalog BLOWS AWAY KANSUCKMYASS!

Really????

Steve Walsh's voice is more annoying than Geddy and Jon Anderson's put together! Jesus!

Bloom and Buck ROCK! FUKK!

It is what is is!!!

After "Audio Visions" which is still very poppy is all crap.

BOC RULES in the 80's!

Are you kidding me???

"Revolution By Night" and "Club Ninja" are "cult" classics! LOL!!!!

I'll take BOC over KANSAS faster than a "Black Blade" can shave a public hair off the vagina of a "Tattooed Vampire."

Simple really.

Naaa I find BOC's other albums really patchy, they have one or two good songs here and there but otherwise pretty forgettable. Kansas are much more progressive as well, BOC are a decent hard rock band but very straight ahead. Walsh is obviously a better singer than anyone from BOC and even though I think Buck is a fine player I prefer Rich and Kerry over him. And Phil Ehart is a better drummer too. Kansas win in every category for me.

On my side of thought there is no doubt KANSAS is more talented than BOC. They are a great band. Legendary.

As Les Claypool would say, "it the matter of opinion."

It's BOC for me until the day I die!

There are no patchy albums by BOC for until after "FIRE."

"Mirrors" is one of the most underrated rock and roll records on the planet.

Signed,

"The Virgil" and "in Thee"

I think Kansas sucks after "Audio Visions."

"TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL!"

"Carry On My Wayward Son Of Christ"

Yeah they played for Jesus!

I don't mind though as long as they don't get too literal and direct with their lyrics like

:musicnote: "MARY HAD A BABY BOY AND JESUS WEPT HE WAS 30 POUNDS OF JEW

THREE KINGS CAME WITH GOLD FRANKENSTEIN'S MONSTER AND SOME STEW

THEN HE DIED FOR YOU

ON A CROSS FOR YOU

LIKE SAVIORS DO

OH BOO HOO HOO" :musicnote:

Yes Pat.

Even those two albums with Steve Morse on guitar are crap.

"POWER" is WEAK

Power is great and the two with Elefante are really excellent too. They sound even better than ever to me too these days.

Kansas is mildly overrated on this board. At the end of the day, they're great, classic even, but they never quite lived up to the Yes' and Genesis' of the world. Some excellent tunes though.

BOC I just haven't really explored much, but the one album I did try from them didn't really hold my attention.

I'll go with Kansas for the time being.

Perhaps it really isn't fair to compare these two elite bands. One prog. One hard rock. Apples to oranges yet again.

For me I totally agree.

We talk about all of these Jr. bands.

Triumph Jr is to Rush.

I just wrote about Fates Warning. Fates Warning Jr. to Queensryche.

I bet some would even call the early Marillion records with Fish Genesis Jr. to Genesis.

I get it. I love them all.

But yes.

GENESIS blows KANSAS away.

"Fire Of Unknown Origin" changed my childhood life!

I had to take care of my neighbors house back in 1982.

This guy had an amazing record collection and a killer audiophile stereo!

Now luckily I already found RUSH in 1981.

But man, I just hung out at this house all day long just cranking his records!

Two of them left an imprint on my my brain forever.

"Fire Of Unknown Origin" and Alan Parsons Project "Eye In The Sky."

EPIC!

I'd love to hear an American prog band that either had a more original approach than Kansas or took their inspiration from something a little zanier than Yes and Genesis, something more like King Crimson or VDGG.

I also just wish Captain Beyond were a bigger deal. Sitting firmly between something like Molly Hatchet or Lynyrd Skynyrd and Yes or Rush, that band had a cool sound. Not always original, but always interesting. I'd love to pick up their debut sometime.

You are amazing dude. Your dad taught you well. I enjoy Captain Beyond. I have the Japanese cd pressings. LOL! Of course I do.

Hmmmm

A more original approach. American. Zany. Frank Zappa?

How about my buddies band. I love them all. The local Bay Area product Enchant? Very progressive. American. Huge overseas. The lead singer Ted is very Steve Walsh. He's also in Spock's Beard now.

I love STYX.

Pat hates them. Hmmmmm

Hahaha! Hey buddy! You are on my time!!

I totally understand you take! I agree as usual. Although I will always be a BOC guy first over KANSAS.

Don't get me wrong, as I have said for years on here, I LOVE KANSAS!

I'm just IN LOVE WITH BOC! FOREVER!

Starcastle Rules!

"EYE IN THE SKY" IS A MASTERPIECE!

I saw the Alan Parsons Project like three years ago in SF.

There was a meet and greet with Alan.

I walked up to him and all I could say was....

"Alan, my life changed when I was a kid back in 1982. I played your Eye In The Sky record and it changed my life."

Alan looked up to me and said.

"Wow, I am impressed you are right about the year that album came out. Good job and thanks!"

He signed my shit and I split.

Love it!!

Alan Parsons Project Rules!

I will take Alan Parsons Project over KANSAS! JMO!
