JohnnyBlaze
Did we honestly think that Neil was willing to pick up his drumsticks for anything? Especially after he basically admitted that he hasn't played drums in over two years? Make a poll. I bet some honestly think there’s at least a possibility that they’ll record or play a gig (or a few). I wouldn’t vote that way but surely some would. JohnnyBlaze
Sounds like Alex is too polite to say "Neil f***ed us." He did say that...just in the Alex Lifeson Canadien way. :P

Everyone knows that if Neil called the other two tomorrow and said, "Hey, I'm getting bored just sitting around. Let's do something," then an album or tour could be back on the table. That simply. So....given that 64/65 is still plenty young for rock-and-roll, I still find it hard to believe that the last chapter has been written for Rush. Lucas
I can imagine that, after time apart and reflecting back to the past 40-some years, they each might think "holy crap, we did a lot" A great run, and they ended proud

Rod in Toronto
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to R40 the other day like I said here - my memory was of not enjoying it as much when it first came out. But yeah, you could definitely hear why Neil decided he didn´t want to do it anymore. There are many drum fills on R40 that he simplified a lot, especially in the older material. Compare that album even with not so old performances - The Camera Eye from the Time Machine versus R40, for example - and you´ll see what I mean.
Rod in Toronto
Will we ever hear of Peart again? You´ll hear about him the same way you hear about John Deacon...someone spotted him buyong groceries somewhere, or any other mundane activity like that.

treeduck
Neil will have become too devious by now to ever be spotted, after years of training himself to dodge fans.

vaportrailer
Peart and Deaon are poles apart, especially as Deacon struggles with depression and shuns the limelight entirely.NP will soon start crapping out books galore that won't sell as much as he hoped. Then he'll put out a solo album! That pic of Deacon is sad. He obviously doesn't want his pic taken. Reminds me of those odious Syd Barrett pics taken before he died.

I didn´t know John Deacon struggled with depression...I knew he didn´t want anything to do with the spotlight after Freddie died, but he´s still involved with the accounting side of Queen´s legacy.
JARG
That's AMAZING that Alex is doing things outside of :rush: To be honest I am glad :rush: is done bc now the guys have time to relax n wind down after non stop touring for 40+ years. Don't attack me but come on guys, they don't need to go back on the road, let them be done. It's there choice so respect it, no mater what. No attack, and I'm happy for all the great music they put out there, but 64 is too young to pack it in. Especially given the state of the "rock industry", it would be good to have Rush still out there. No. Rock is not well served by old men playing a young man's game. Rush had already become a parody of themselves by the time they hung it up.
Principled Man
.....but 64 is too young to pack it in. This opinion is often held by fans who are thinking more about their desire to see Rush keep playing than about a musician's personal desire to retire. Deciding when to pack it in is a deeply personal decision by every individual. The right time to retire is whenever YOU want it to be, and no one has any business telling you that you're "too young".
thizzellewashington
They had a good run. I'm glad they went out near the top of their abilities rather than turning into a joke like other bands of their era who should have packed it in years ago but haven't (like the Who, for example). 20 albums over 40 years is plenty.
