So Mike Portnoy doesn't like any Rush after Moving Pictures?

Sorry for the ranty two cents there, I don't really disagree with you so much as I just wanted to put my opinion out there.

Nothing ranty about your post

in my opinion. I think you make good points and appreciate your response.

EP, I know I've said this before, but you should write about music.

I find your posts thoughtful and considered. You should send a piece to UCR, just to see. You never know, maybe they'll have you writing exciting things about Dio holograms and withered Hair bands!

Lol, I know, and I thank you for your compliments! I would kind of love to write about music, but I can't help but feel like I'd also kind of hate to write about it if only for the system it's gonna put me in that I tend to find somewhat corrupt and flailing. I enjoy reading stuff from Team Rock, UCR, Pitchfork...heck, even RS isn't always completely awful. But in a way, Yoko was right when she said "writing about music is like dancing about architecture," lol. I don't think they'd want my 100% honest opinions over there, especially when the opinion tends to be oh so subjective, lol.

On the other hand, I really admire some of the youtube mini stars out there who are reacting to and critiquing music. Theneedledrop and Lost In Vegas are my favorite YT channels. Maybe someday I could do something a little more low key like that, maybe ;)

It is subjective, but a good writer can make you want to listen, which is pretty cool. It might not be the best career decision, but might make you a few extra bucks to spend on more music!

I don't think that's a Yoko quote btw...isn't it Zappa or E Costello? [edit - apparently said by Comedian Martin Mull!]

Coulda sworn I'd heard it attributed to Yoko, but then taking a great quote from someone else and saying it herself sounds like a somewhat Yoko thing to do, lol. I agree.
