Darkest Hour

This was a good one. It dovetails nicely with Dunkirk from a historical perspective, but where Dunkirk was mostly about the action and not so much about character development and dialogue, this is just the opposite: heavy on dialogue and character development and anemic with respect to action. Luckily I liked both movies, but I prefer this one to Dunkirk.

I love historical movies. Thanks for the review. I'm definitely going to see this.

I wasn't too excited about Gary Oldman playing Churchill. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Oldman. He's just not the first person I think of when I see a picture of Winston Churchill.

Which should I see first, Darkest Hour or Dunkirk?

you have to see Dunkirk first, the Darkest Hour contains spoilers.

People die and stuff? Really? :o

I meant more like, would you appreciate one more if you saw the other first? I know Dunkirk doesn't have much in the way of character development.

Most of the events in Darkest Hour happen before Dunkirk, so from a chronological perspective, it'd make more sense to see Dunkirk second.

It might provide a context for Dunkirk. which is pretty bare in terms of explaining things.

Also, it would probably help you know what's going on as Dunkirk doesn't spend a lot of time explaining things.

I didn't see your post or I would have worded it differently. :)
