okay, let's suspend reality a little and choose a fantasy scenario for the sake of it. Imagine the greatest crush of your life that seemed unattainable to you. It could be a girl/guy that you went to school with or a famous person, anyone that your heart ever desired (Excluding family members: There are other forums on the internet where people gladly welcome that type of discussion.).

So here is the scenario, you have had Rush tickets for a few months (And, this is at a time in your life when you were single and not in a relationship.) and you are now going to that show tonight and are excited as shit to see the show, when suddenly you get a call from your dream date and says she/he says that he/she would like to take you on a date and treat you to dinner and a movie and could not go to see Rush in concert because of a problem with their ears. Your dream date assures you that if you go to dinner and a movie then you can decide how to end the date and they will do whatever you want to do, and insist that that means anything.

So do you go on the date or go see Rush?

hm...

If the offer is tonight only, I doubt she's worth it. The crush would be worth pursuing if she understood how important seeing Rush is to me and allowed a rain check, so in general I choose Rush.

Say however, the circumstances were such that there really was no way for her to reschedule...I might consider the date over the concert, but I'd have to think long and hard about the particular girl...and I'd probably have to be able to get a ticket to another show.

I would go to the Rush concert. My dream date would quickly become disappointed in me, but the band is more than happy to see me pay for the $200 ticket.

I'm well grounded in reality, even when dealing with hypothetical fantasy dilemmas. :P

I don't think Neil is happy when people buy VIP passes and try to meet him. :P

I've never done the VIP thing or had a desire to do so. So they can keep that.

The Rush concert, I know I'd have an awesome time.

The Dream date would be like any first date, even if it was w/ someone I had a crush on...awkward and unknown. Besides. there's nothing that precludes me from agreeing to the date and scheduling it for after the concert has passed.

So I'd go to the concert.
