Justice League

Principled Man

I saw it today. 10:30 am showing. Only $5.00! :laughing guy:

I rather liked it. It was much better than I expected to be. It has some flaws, of course, but overall, I liked it quite a bit. Good character development, some good humor,....and Gal Gadot/Wonder Woman has me forever under her spell.....

I saw this movie and really liked it. Like with Pricipaled Man, Gal Gadot / Wonder Woman has me under her spell. That being said, in many ways the stars, for me, were the Flash & Aquaman. I found them to be very enjoyable characters.

I will admit, I am a fan of Marvel, not DC. Therefore I always have a preconcieved notion of what Marvel movies should look like and when they don't, its a strike against them. With DC I don't have preconcieved notion so they can work with a blank canvass. Hence its easyer for them to have a "plus" and harder for them to get an automatic "negative" like Marvels Movies can. This may have helped give the movie a plus.

I will say that with a tiny bit less action the plot could have been even better but I almost always have that issue with super hero movies (except Thor Ragnorok - that one got it right).

Still, I found this one to be better super hero movies I have seen. Liked it a lot.

The little tidbit of backstory for Aquaman really intrigued me. Can't wait for the full story in his feature film. I liked this version of Barry Allen. I thought he would be really annoying, but he wasn't.

It was ok.

like not wonderful not horrible

a very resounding meh.

I'm a marvel guy anyway.

The best thing by far about it was the great way the heroes worked off each other.

And wonder of wonders they tried to give Superman an actual personality this time. Cause the DC Movies have Butchered this character IMO.

I give this 5/10

Saw this last night.

Nowhere near as bad as Suicide Squad.

Certainly better than Batman v Superman.

Not as good as Wonder Woman.

The good:

- Wonder Woman...believable, hot.

- Cyborg...his metallic pieces looked cheap at times but the character himself was effective.

- Steppenwolf's backstory scene which showed Atlanteans, Amazons, Green Lanterns etc. taking him and his legions on

- Supes vs Justice League...cool little brawl

The bad:

- overall story and ending felt rushed; didn't feel much drama at the end

- Aquaman...some of his lines seemed too forced

- Flash...garbage costume, garbage rendition -- Barry Allen should be easygoing and smart, not the neurotic kid misfit that we saw

- more crappy screen time, albeit brief, by whatshisname as Lex Luthor

Grade: C-

JB, you thought the Wonder Woman was good? I kept seeing all the hype, and when I finally saw it, what a disappointment!!! I thought it was quite formulaic, one of the most predictable superhero movies I´ve ever seen...and it has that pompous and self absorbed atmosphere of all DC movies, which is quite annoyng. Batman vs Superman was horrible too, and don´t even get me started on Suicide Squad.

Anyway, I plan on watching Justice League eventually, but with VERY low expectations. It´s quite a shame, because the whole DC universe had a lot of potential.

I thought WW was gonna be crap and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't.

I imagined Justice League wasn't gonna be good. And it wasn't.

Oh about the Wonder Woman movie hype—I avoided all of it. For one thing, there was no hype for it here in Japan so there’s that. As far as hype online—that’s pretty easy for me to avoid as I don’t check out movie websites and such despite my love for movies.

In any case, the Wonder Woman character has been around since World War 2, as long as Captain America and longer than Spidey, Hulk, and a bunch of other Marvel dudes I love. She’s needed her own big screen movie for a long long time.

I’m not a big DC fan but Gal Gadot was a great pick for WW. Good action, cool costumes. And the comedic parts in the movie were fun and unforced.

Today, here’s how I’d grade the DCU flicks...

Man of Steel: C-/D+ (tedious in the end)

Bats vs Supes: D-/F (Lex Luther actor’s fault)

Suicide Squad: TEN Fs (piece of crap every second of the way)

Wonder Woman: B

Justice League: C-

DC was total crap for me for so long that WW was a nice surprise.

My Sccores

Man of Steel-1/10

Batman V. Superman-2/10 (the ONLY reason it gets a 2 AT ALL is for Bat-flack and Irons)

Suicide Squad-3/10

Wonder Woman-7/10

Justice Legue-5/10

Where Marvel rarely Disappoints me.....DC needs to step it up greatly.

The last 2 movies are sorta steps in the right direction. tiny steps though.

So that Social Network dude is still playing Lex In the new movie? That was one of the worst casting mistakes ever!

[Luthor will] definitely be played by a different person ... I don't know the history as well as the people making the movie, so I guess it's up to them to figure out how much they want to separate it from previous incarnations.

There's no way to play the history of the character played by other people, unless you do some kind of wink, but that doesn't seem like a responsible way to act. (Jesse Eisenberg, 2014)

Jesse, the responsible way to do it is to have an actor be LEX LUTHOR - a strong, assertive, brilliant, evil-genius MAN, and not some scrawny, baby-faced, wimpy lunatic.

Rod.....He was also Lex in Batman v Superman

Awful is being kind trust me, lol

Mick

He's a good enough actor, when given a proper role. As Lex Luthor though, he's completely out of his element.

I liked Superman Returns, even though it had some flaws. One of its biggest flaws was Frank Langella playing Perry White. A total disaster.

Perry White is a brash, frenetic, and go-getter type of editor. Frank Langella played him as Perry COMO, he was so sedate and boring. :boo hiss:

I could never get into DC back in the 70's. When I had all the Marvel comics I wanted for a particular month I would look through the DC stuff and literally laugh at how bad it was. And this was when I was just a little kid.

A lot of the 70s dc comics were crap I think too. That’s probably why there was a lot of revamping in the 80s. AND those 80s dc comics saw some great stuff too: Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, Batman: The Killing Joke, the John Byrne Superman run which made Supes less mild-mannered and slightly depowered (two bold moves), Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and Alan Moore’s run on Swamp Thing.

But as far as live action DC related flicks, they’re usually weak. Looking back over the last 40 years, the only ones I liked ((grade B or higher)) were the first two Reeves’ Supes movies, Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Watchmen, 300 ((THE perfect example of guilty pleasure popcorn movie)), Wonder Woman, and V for Vendetta. Given how many have failed ((me)), that’s few.

Where DC isn’t weak is in their animated films and shows. I just wished that carried over into more of their live action movies.

Well, that shows how much Eisenberg was right about NOT portraying Lex again.

I didn’t like Superman Returns but Spacey did an adequate job as Lex.

I liked his performance. Spacey's Luthor was not very talkative, but very cruel and sinister. His gang of thugs were effectively vicious.

Yeah. And I quite liked that scene with the thugs putting the beatdown on a kryptonite-suffering Superman.

Still, that movie lacked some drama among other things. It had a couple of good pieces but mostly it was bland and not too likeable.

I just watched Justice League. It's not good, but it's not bad. It's more entertaining then Batman v Superman, but still an absolute mess story wise. Marvel is simply in DC's head. [5/10]

If they make another Justice League film, with Darkseid as the Supervillain, you have to wonder why they even bothered to make this one. Steppenwolf was one of the lamest supervillains I've ever seen.
