The upcoming tour cycle's something I wouldn't rule out seeing should it be brought over to the states in 2019. I think I'd be more inclined to go if half or more of the set is of songs I haven't heard live yet (i.e. something off BNW-onwards I haven't heard live yet) or resurrected after (insert amount of years here) *cough*Flight Of Icarus*cough*. Since I was a little kid back in the 80s and was too young to see them, I will take seeing any kind of old school themed set they do.

Same here. And if the tour is to promote their new videogame Legacy of the Beast, looking at the songs on the game might give us some indication of the setlist.

Here are the songs that appear in the game:

Of course we know that Nomad will not be played because it is also the subject of a legal act they're involved with - the same one that includes Hallowed be thy name, and since this started they dropped Hallowed from the set. But there are some good, non-obvious choices there which could easily be part of the shows next year.

I met Steve Harris last July here in Kansas City. I had an insider's pass to watch him and the road crew play a pickup game of soccer at Kansas City Sportings practice facility. I made sure it was cool to approach him after the match and got his autograph on the deluxe Book Of Souls CD case and photos during the game and with other people, but alas no photos with me--they turned the lights out on the field just as I was getting my phone ready. I've never been that nervous meeting a rock star before, because he's such a legend and personal hero. I knew to keep it short and simple, I said, "The new album is brilliant. Thank you for bringing the show to Kansas City". He handed the case back to me, shook my hand and said "Cheers mate".

I actually teared up driving home, because it sunk in how incredible it was to meet one of the biggest figures in metal, the chief song writer in the greatest metal band of all time and personal favorite band besides maybe Rush. I've met Glen Danzig, Kerry King, Dave Mustaine and Ellefson, Steve Vai, and David Lee Roth (as a security guard--professional conversation only) and have never been even close to that emotionally moved by such an experience. Driving home I was blasting classic Maiden and thought back to my first Maiden concert (Somewhere In Time Tour, Jan. '87 on my 14th Birthday) and thought how crazy it was to finally meet this God I was spellbound by as a kid.

For me personally, if that happened to be the tour setlist, I wouldn’t mind it actually. The caveat being that I’ve never heard most of those newer songs live (i.e. the songs off AMOLAD) and a few of the older songs yet. Where Eagles Dare and Losfer Words? I’d definitely would love to see them play those two live.

Of course, Bruce shut down all hopes of Empire Of The Clouds live but I’d hope they’d sneak in a song off Dance Of Death and/or another song from Brave New World in its place but maybe I’m just being too hopeful there.

I'm curious now: how was the meeting with Dave?

Sorry for the late response; I'm really busy nowadays (we had twins last March). I assume you are referring to Mustaine. He was super cool. I went into the venue to get tickets Megadeth were playing that night on the Risk tour and he was sitting at a round table near the bar and nodded to me while I was walking buy ( it was surreal I didn't even notice him when I walked in and right when I glanced over at him he was already acknowledging me just as I saw him). I said something to the effect I had been a huge fan since '86 and they were always great live. He thanked me and told me to enjoy the show. I didn't get an autograph. Grrrr.

i would love love love to see them in europe, as i've always wanted to visit europe, and what's a better reason to travel than to see one of my favorite bands. a few months ago my sister tossed around the idea of visiting ireland or england in the summer of 2018 and taking my brother along. perfect timing ;)

I actually got to talk to him only on a professional level when I worked security for fun when I was younger. I talked to him and his road manager; Dave wanted me and another guy to carry him in a road case around the side of the crowd during Jason Becker's solo (yeah, this was a while ago) so he could magically pop up on the mini-stage above the mixing board and swing his staff around during Aint Talkin Bout Love. We made him settle for putting a jacket over his head while he hung on to the back of my shirt as we lead him through the side of the crowd and then to the mixing board. It was crazy standing next to him while we were watching Becker's solo under the stage. I noticed a blow up doll bouncing around and pointed it out to him, Dave grinned and back handed me on the stomach. Once he got up on the mini-stage to do his thing, I stood in front of it (I could actually feel the wind brush by the back of my head as his damn staff swung just inches away from me) and the other guy stood in back (except for the mixing board guys it could have been open season on Dave; two of us wasn't enough to stop any mad rush from the crowd).

There were little devil statues (ala A Little Aint Enough) on the front corners pissing 15' streams of Wild Turkey on the crowd, so I guess that distracted the crazies enough--everybody was pushing eachother out of the way trying to get a swig. Towards the end of the song, a hoard of other guards came from the very back with the giant blow up microphone, Dave jumped aboard, and I lead the charge back down to the main stage pushing a few drunk people out of the way.

I hope the story is entertaining enough--I'll never forget it for sure. The craziness of leading him around overshadows the brief conversation I had with him before.

Ok, enough about DLR, continue on with the Maiden talk...

Cool story, GLR...it wouldn´t have been Jason Becker though, right? He recorded the album with Dave, but never toured with him due to the advanced stage of ALS. The guitar player that toured with Dave then was Joe Holmes, who also played with Ozzy later in his career.

I was wondering that myself as I was typing it. I knew Becker didn't last too long with DLR because of the ALS. I guess it was Holmes. This was one of the few concerts I worked backstage so I didn't soak in a majority of the show.

I was going to buy it, but haven't done it yet. I'm more interested in the audio than the video, even though I went to the show in Rio that made it into the album (the version of Wasted Years was recorded there).
