Geds Posted September 12, 2005 Share Posted September 12, 2005 Ok, i'm a guitar player, so humor me on this one... I've seen RUSH numerous times and I watch the videos and DVD's pretty frequently. You see Alex and Geddy come out onto or leave the stage in the dark here and there, but most of the time, when the lights come on they are just there. Neil is SURROUNDED by drums, and that is evident in every shot of him, but especially the ones from above the kit. I have NEVER seen him getting into or out if his kit. Ever. I'm sure he's just moving a floor tom out of the way or something, but is he? Really? Has anyone EVER caught a glimpse of him sneaking into his kit? I think it's wild to think he may be "sneaking" into the kit..... in front of 20,000 people. How does he do it? Am I crazy for realizing I've never caught him doing it? But the part that I find amazing is that they seem to go to great lengths to conceal his entry and exit from the kit. Just another small detail that shows you how precise everything is in a RUSH show. I am curious wich part you call the "back" though, Kazz..... In the video's that I have, the kit spins around and there is a whole 'nother set behind him at all times.... Like I said, I really know nothing about this, just curious. At Sarstock a couple of summers ago in Toronto, they played a huge stage in daylight, and he along with the other two, ran from side stage across to his set. You are right - now that you point it out, it occurs to me that that particular stage entry sticks in my mind because it was so unique from all of the other times I have seen Rush. I looked at the part on Disc 1 Rush In Rio at 66min. 4 seconds you can see him as you described it " Effortlessly ". Due to limited space ( Due ti the wall being in the way ) where I have my kit I just tip up one floor tom a little and get in. I wish I had the problem of some real nice electric drums being in my way. I went to only 2 Rush Shows in 2004. Both started in the Bright Sun Daylight HOT HOT HOT!!!!!! and I just did not seem to even notice the way he gets in. I was very close 7th. row for one show and 10th. for the other. Although i don't think he even runs in....he just kinda SLIPS in. it does look like there is a small opening behind the chimes, over his left shoulder in the next few shots from above.... Cool. About 2 seconds and he's seated. I woulda thought it would be more difficult than that. grasbo Posted November 15, 2017 Share Posted November 15, 2017 If you look on the various dvds you can see the slight space between the front and back kits as mentioned.But with that expanding wasteline it would have to been getting a little tight.Failing that he would have just become invisible like he does at the end of shows and he wouldn't have to worry about the gap between kits. It would make a good comedy video watching me try, that's for sure. If someone doesn't have the talent, all the practice in the world will not give it to them.
