To me, there's a huge difference between choking your chicken in front of people who don't want you to, and actually sexually assaulting someone. Huge.

There's a difference?

Yes, there is. The first act is that of a narcissistic, vulgar jackass. The second act is much worse.

Let's not forget that sexual misconduct and assault are legally defined in degrees of severity for a good reason. Offenders are not all the same.

While the acts vary, the pathology is the same, however.

Choking your chicken in front of someone who doesn't want you to IS sexual assault.

I'll re-phrase. Choking your chicken in front of someone who doesn't want you to do that is much different than sexually assaulting someone in a physical manner. Much. The latter is an act of violence and control.

I understand the distinction. And I understand the legal and moral consequences faced should be separated. But I don't think it should be excused through comparison.

What FordGalaxy is saying is that Louis CK has a long way to go on the atrocity list before he considers using his picture in an avatar

I don't agree with that at all. The mindset involved with whacking it in front of others is nothing like that of forcing one's self on another.

Louis CK never assaulted anyone. He didn't even try to assault anyone or even touch anyone.

Acts of violence and control do not require physical contact, especially acts of a sexual nature. I would say that masturbating in front of someone is potentially much worse than a quick grab of someone's breasts or genitals for example.

Are you basing this on opinion or some background in the study of sexual pathology? If it's the latter, I'd be interested in reading more.

How can the psychological effects be pushed aside? On its own, it's very disturbing.

Your free to say that, but I don't think that's correct. A person can leave the area or simply close their eyes. Once you've been touched or grabbed or worse, you can still leave the area but the person doing the assaulting is likely to follow. It's a different mindset than just masturbating, imo.

Think of it this way. Ask 2 women, one who had some guy masturbate in front of them, and one who had a breast or their ass grabbed, which is worse and what answer do you think you'll get?

^ well first off this is just a shitty theoretical situation. Wouldn't it be better to ask a single woman who experienced both of the two and have her say which is worse? When you've experienced one thing but not another and are asked to compare which is worse, how are you supposed to answer? That won't work. They're either going to compete for "my experience was worse" or they're going to insist on the other's experience being worse.

But to the more important point - both experiences are unpleasant to the point of denouncement. It's really more of a mental thing rather than entirely physical; having a disgusting and undesirable act being brought upon you.

Feel free to stop being a stupid asshole now.

Prior to this story, I had never even heard of Louis CK .. So I just did some reading, and found this:

He is known for his use of observational, self-deprecating, dark, and vulgar humor .... C.K. appeared several times on Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist,[112] and voiced The Horrifyingly Sweaty One-Armed Monstrosity in two episodes of Gravity Falls.[113] In 2017, he guest starred as himself in the animated sitcom Family Guy.[114] C.K. was a frequent guest on The Opie & Anthony Show radio show, which also featured his Lucky Louie co-star Jim Norton. C.K. was also a part of Opie and Anthony's Traveling Virus Comedy Tour with other comedians in 2007. In 2007, he hosted a three-hour phone-in show on the service at the request of Opie & Anthony, during which he advised callers on their relationship troubles. During an interview with Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on the show, C.K. repeatedly asked Rumsfeld whether he is in fact a reptilian space alien who "eats Mexican babies".[116] Rumsfeld declined to comment and the video has since gone viral

I could be wrong, but really don't think CK's fanbase is going to be put off by these accusations ..

In fact, considering the timing of this story and CK's quick admission, I have to wonder if it was his own PR machine that put it out there ..

So the premier was cancelled, but does anyone think the movie is going to vanish ?? ... This will only generate more interest ..

He was my favorite stand-up comedian and I'm definitely put off by this.

I'm wondering if our opinions are equally informed in terms of understanding sexual aggression, motivations, and impact on victims. Based on what you're posting, I get a sense that they aren't.

Hmm. I don't see your board name in this discussion until you jumped right in with the personal attack. I'll be sure and put a lot of weight behind your opinion. Have a nice day.

I'm getting the sense that you prefer to give an opinion with no factual evidence to support it, and then when people disagree with your opinion, you question their level of "being informed".

I'm wondering if you're planning on providing any factual evidence to support your assertion that "the pathology is the same".

If you'd like. I'll start something in SOCN. Forcwhat it's worth, I have a strong background in psychology and, specifically, the study of mental disorders. So your "sense" is incorrect.
